VAN WERT — Ottawa-Glandorf won the team title Saturday’s Van Wert Invitational boys tennis competition.
The Titans finished with 17 points followed by Van Wert (16), Shawnee (11) and St. Marys (6)
Nolan Unterbrink (first singles) and Carter and Colin Welch (first doubles) and Kamron Maag and Parker Schomaeker (second doubles) won their divisions as did Van Wert’s Zane Fast (second singles) and Michael Hellman (third singles)
Jefferson win two
LIMA — Delphos Jefferson defeated Lima Senior 16-8 and 29-10
In the 16-8 affair, Aly Lindeman had two home runs, a triple and five RBI, Jayla Rostofer had a home run, two singles and three RBI, Kendall Schrader had a home run, two singles and three RBI, Anna Fitch had a home run, a triple and two RBI, Audrey North had two doubles and an RBI, Skye Stevenson had a triple, a single and two RBI and Ally Hasting had two hits for Jefferson. Taylor Talbert had two doubles, a single and three RBI, Jenna Wentling had a double, a single and an RBI and Lauren Zeli had two hits and two RBI for Lima Senior.
In the 29-10 contest, Michelle Rode had a home run, three doubles and eight RBI, Stevenson had a double, two singles and three RBI, Aly Lindeman had three hits and an RBI, Kylie Gossett had a double, a single and three RBI, Rileigh Rahrig had a double, a single and four RBI and North had two hits and an RBI for Jefferson. Riley Davenport had a triple, two singles and four RBI for Lima Senior.
New Bremen top LCC
LIMA — New Bremen defeated Lima Central Catholic 9-6 and 13-8.
In the 9-6 contest, Kennedy Parker had two home runs and four RBI for LCC and Cardonie homered for New Bremen. In the 13-8 encounter, Abbi Thiemen, Kelly Naylor and Madi Lozier each homered for New Bremen.
Bluffton defeated St. Marys 2-1 and 7-5.
In the 2-1 encounter, Mara Minnig had a double for Bluffton. Winning pitcher Libby Schaadt (10-1) went seven innings, allowing three hits and a walk while striking out 10. In the 7-5 contest, Schaadt had a home run, triple and two RBI, Katie Prater had two hits and two RBI, Averey Rumer had two hits and Alivia Koenig had a hit and two RBI for Bluffton. Kiley Tennant had three hits, Alyssa Alexander had two hits and two RBI and Karsyn McGlothen and Baylie Kreischer each had two hits for St. Marys.
Elida wins two
SPENCERVILLE — The visiting Bulldogs won 20-6 and 13-5. In the 20-6 encounter, McKenzie Miller had five hits and four RBI, Abby Smith had a home run, double, single and five RBI, and Nevaeh Vorhees had a double, a single and three RBI for Elida. In the 15-10 contest, Smith had three doubles and five RBI and Evelyn Frueh had two hits and two RBI for Elida. Mackenzie Brown had a triple, double and single and Emily Zak and Hayley Cobb each had two hits for Spencerville.
Shawnee 6, Lima Senior 3
SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP — Joey Azzarello had two hits and an RBI and Justin Behnke had a hit and two RBI for Shawnee. Adrian Bowsher and Ethan Jordan each had a hit and an RBI for Lima Senior.
Miller City 11, Allen East 7
HARROD — Ellerbrock had a double, two singles and three RBI, Koenig had a double, a single and an RBI, Deitering had two hits and two RBI and Gable had two hits for Miller City. Jordan Motter had three hits and two RBI and Cole Fletcher had two hits and an RBI for Allen East.
Elida wins two
SPENCERVILLE — Elida defeated the host Bearcats 13-1 and 5-4.
In the 13-1 contest, Jordan Davis, Jaden Hullinger and Drew Brockert combined to allow no earned runs or hits and two walks while striking out eight. Davis had three hits and five RBI, Brayden Lybarger had two hits and three RBI Alec Ewing had three hits and an RBI, Luke Burger had two hits and an RBI and Matt Fish had a hit and three RBI for Elida. In the 5-4 contest, Fish had a double and two RBI. Drake Mertz had two hits and two RBI and Kale Lee had a pair of hits for Spencerville.
St. Marys goes 1-1
St. Marys defeated Riverside 12-1 and lost 11-10 to Benjamin Logan.
Against Benjamin Logan, Braedon Trogdion had two hits and an RBI and Trey Fisher and Tiley Sweigert each had two hits. Against Riverside, Fisher had three hits and two RBI and Clay Quellhorst had three hits and five RBI.
Track & field
Mansfield Mehock Relays
The Lima Senior girls finished sixth (50 points) out of 24 teams at the 87th Mansfield Mehocks Relays. East Kentwood won the girls team title with 122.66 points. Van Wert was ninth (28) and Fort Recovery (18) was 10th.
First place finishes were recoreded by by Deji’Ona Shurelds Simpson (59.99) in the 400 and the 1,600 relay team of Ka’Niyah Stevens, India Benton, Simpson and Elyse Kelley (4:08.39). Van Wert”s Kirsten Clay won the discus (132-00)
East Kentwood also won the boys team title with 104.2 points. Fort Recovery (40) was eighth and Van Wert (15) was 15th. Van Wert’s Austin Clay won the shot put (51-03).
Celina’s Olivia Rider (5-0) and Brooke Robbins (9-06) won the girls high jump and pole vault respectively and Celina’s Kyler Bourney won the boy pole vault with a height of 13-06. The Celina girls finished fourth (89.5) behind team champ Eastwood (117.5) which also won the boys title (141.5) with Celina finishing seventh (66) in the eight-team event.
Lima Senior 12, Winton Woods 5
Allen Madlock and Ishmeal Curtis had three goals each, Kyshawn Newell had two tallies and Kevin Schroeder, Deavan Scott, Andrew Zell and Cole Mericle each had a goal for Lima Senior (3-3).
Battle of the Bradfield
LIMA — Southside Spartans Gym members went 6-5 Friday night at Bradfield Community Center.
Aidan Vogt, Emmanual Rettig, Emilia Rettig, Taji Breland, Tanille Jackson and Steve Plaugher all recorded victories for Southside.
