Coach Dave Kleman has announced his retirement after 27 years at the helm of the Ottoville varsity girls basketball program.
Kleman took over in 1992 and during his tenure the Big Green won 12 Putnam County League titles, 14 district championships, made eight state appearances and were state runner-up three times, including the last two seasons. Kleman finishes with a 532-127 career record.
“The Ottoville Athletic Department wants to congratulate Coach Kleman for his years of dedication to the girls as a coach and a role model to look up to,” Ottoville athletic director Mark Odenweller said in a new release. “Seeing the former players come up to practice and attending the games during their breaks showed how much respect the girls have for Coach Kleman and the program he built.
“We would also like to thank his family for their support, and especially his wife, Cheryl. We know that being a coach requires a lot of time away from the family. For this sacrifice we thank you.”
