Notre Dame College men’s basketball standout, Will Vorhees, was named the Division II Conference Commissioners Association 2019 Men’s Basketball Ron Lenz National Player of the Year on Tuesday afternoon.

The senior forward also received First Team All-American honors from the D2CCA, and was announced as a participant in the 2019 Reese’s® Division II College All-Star game by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.

Vorhees, a Columbus Grove High School graduate, is the nation’s second leading scorer and eighth leading rebounder in NCAA Division II. He averaged 28.8 points and 11.3 boards, to go along with 3.4 assists per game for the Falcons this past season. He is the first player in league history to record both 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds, while his 2,761 career points are the most in NCAA Division II in the past 27 years.

Vorhees received the Ron Lenz National Player of the Year from the D2CCA after being named the Atlantic Region Player of the Year earlier this month. His First Team All-American honor is the first a player from Notre Dame has earned since entering NCAA Division II play. Vorhees was named Second Team All-American after his junior campaign in 2016-17.
