Each week, The Lima News publishes a calendar of events of local interest. Events should be submitted by noon Wednesday of each week to The Lima News.

ADULT FITNESS

Lima: Apex Sports Zone is now offering Adult Fitness Classes. Five week and 10 week programs are being offered. Get fit, tone and increase your energy. For more information visit ApexSportsZone.com or call 567-712-7175.

ARCHERY

Lima: The Allen County Archers are holding open 3-D shoots the first Saturday and Sunday each month from March through September. They are open to all archery equipment.

Columbus Grove: Columbus Grove Archery Club memberships are available. For info call Tom Frick at 419-384-3033.

The Columbus Groves Archery Club hold traditional indoor shoots at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tuesdays.

BASEBALL

Lima: The Lima Diamondbacks 18U travel team has a few positions available for the 2019 summer season. This team is for this year’s high school seniors and juniors and will play a competitive tournament schedule. The team will practice during the winter in the FAST facility in Lima. Lima: Apex Sports Zone is having T-ball league for boys and girls ages 4-7. League games will be held Fridays at Apex Sports Zone Lima. Games are four innings long – or one hour maximum. For more information or to sign up, go to ApexSportsZone.com or call 567-712-7175.

Lima: Hitting league registration now open. Apex Sports Zone will be holding machine pitch hitting leagues for both baseball and softball. Four-player teams will compete in a six-week season including five league games and one postseason game. Games are five innings long in Apex’s professional, turfed cages. Delphos: The 10th annual Nathan Miller Memorial Tournament will be May 31 through June 2 at the Delphos Stadium Park. The tournament is a 16-20 team tournament for boys age 11-12 years old (age cutoff is March 1). The tournament will be pool play with a three-game guarantee. Players must be from the same school district. Cost is $175. Deadline to enter is May 10. For more information contact Sam Miller at 567-825-8631.

BASKETBALL

Lima: On Tuesdays, Apex Sports Zone offers pickup basketball for $5 from 7:30-8:30 p.m. For more information go to ApexSportsZone.com or call 567-712-7175.

Lima: The 16th annual Bath boys fifth-sixth grade tournament will offer pool play March 16 and a single elimination tournament March 17. Entry fee is $150 per team. Will only take 24 school teams per grade. Call or text Mike Frey at 419-234-2400 or email at mfrey224@woh.rr.com to register.

Bluffton: A sixth to eighth grade clinic meets in the BFR gym from 4- 5 p.m. Wednesdays from April 10 to May 15, led by Kaycee Rowe.

FOOTBALL

Lima: The Lima YMCA is holding registrations for the Youth Flag Football League for 6 to 8 year olds (coed) through March 22. The fee is $25 for members and $50 for non league members.

Bluffton: Flag football takes place Saturdays from April 6 through May 4. It is open to youth ages 5 to 12. Players receive a reversible NFL Flag Jersey and a set of NFL flags. Cost is $35 for members and $70 for program participants.

GYMNASTICS

Lima

The Lima YMCA is holding a preschool and youth gymnastics program for boys and girls ages 18 months and older. Classes have started. The fee is $20 for member and$40 for non members.

HORSESHOES

Lima

The Allen County Horseshoe Pitchers, located at 1815 C St., have openings in leagues and doubles. Open doubles begins at 8:30 a.m. Saturdays. Corn hole leagues are forming. KARATE

Lima: The Lima Family YMCA is holding a karate program from 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. The fee is $30 for members and $60 for nonmembers.

KICKBOXING

Lima: At 7:30 p.m Tuesdays and Thursdays, Apex Sports Zone will have classes for adults and kids 14 and older. Go to lima.apexsportszone.com/kickboxing.

PICKLEBALL

Lima: Pickleball is played at Bradfield Center from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. All skill levels are welcome.

Lima: The Lima YMCA is holding open pickleball play from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday (appointment only). Free for YMCA members and $3 per visit for nonmembers or $20 per month for nonmembers (unlimited play). Individuals can register online at limaymca.net.

Bluffton: The Bluffton Family Recreation will be offering pickleball from 8:30-10:30 a.m. and 7-9 p.m. Tuesdays and from 8:30-10:30 a.m. and 5-7 p.m. Thursdays.

RUN/WALK

Ottoville: The Ottoville Mother’s Club will be playing host to its 10th annual 5K Ottoville Big Green Boost Up. Proceeds to help Ottoville students with individual educational needs. It is a 5K Run/Walk | 1/4 Mile Fun Run | Walk the Block on Saturday, March 30. Registration is at the Ottoville High School Auditeria. Individuals can also register online at runsignup.com/bgboostup.

Delphos: The seventh annual Organ Donor Dash 5K run/walk will be held Sunday, April 28th. The event will start at Stadium Park in Delphos and run through the streets of town. If pre-registered by April 21st, participants will receive a dri-fir shirt. Race day registration also available starting at noon and the race takes off at 1 pm. Organ donors and recipients along with their families are also invited to participate. For more information, contact Deann Heiing at 419-230-2963. This race is the second leg of the Superior Running Series (along with Bath Spring Fling on April 7 and Kalida 4-miler on May 11). If registered for all three events, participants receive a free quarter-zip running jacket. Kalida: The fourth annual Runing with the Law Sprint Triathlon and 5K Race will be held at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 17 at Four Seasons Park, 18031 Road M. SHOOTING

Lima Sabres: The Lima Sabres have various shooting events. Thursday Trap Practice and League is 4 p.m. weekly. Junior Wednesday morning trap practice is 9 a.m. to noon weekly, weather permitting. For additional information, go to limasabres.com or visit on Facebook.

SELF-DEFENSE

Lima: “ARMED … Like a Lady” — Women’s Shooting and Self-Defense Group at the Lima Sabres, 5090 Hanthorn Road. Gain confidence however that may be. SOCCER

Lima: Apex Sports Zone is playing host to Advanced Soccer Skills. College level coaches and players will put participants through more advanced soccer training with an emphasis on foot skills, passing, receiving, striking a ball and much more. Bluffton: Spring U6 soccer takes place from Tuesday, April 2, to Thursday, May 4. It is open to boys and girls ages 4 to 6. Registration deadline is Sunday, March 17. Games are from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at BFR. Each night begins with a 10-minute practice followed by four eight-minute quarters. April 2 is a skills night with no game. Volunteer coaches are needed.

Lima: The Lima YMCA is registering for the youth spring league for boys and girls from ages four to sixth grade until March 24. Membership fee is $25 for members and $50 for non members.

SOFTBALL

STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING/FITNESS

Bluffton: The third and fourth grade volleyball takes place from Monday, March 18, through Saturday, April 13. Play is in a league round-robin format.
