Lima: The Lima Diamondbacks 18U travel team has a few positions available for the 2019 summer season. This team is for this year’s high school seniors and juniors and will play a competitive tournament schedule. The team will practice during the winter in the FAST facility in Lima. Lima: Hitting League Registration now open. Apex Sports Zone will be holding Machine Pitch Hitting Leagues for both baseball and softball. Four-player teams will compete in a six-week season including five league games and one postseason game. Games are five innings long in Apex’s professional, turfed cages. Delphos: The 10th annual Nathan Miller Memorial Baseball Tournament will be May 31 through June 2 at the Delphos Stadium Park. The tournament is a 16-20 team tournament for boys age 11-12 years old (age cutoff is March 1). The tournament will be pool play with a three-game guarantee. Lima: A Pass, Dribble, Shoot contest sponsored by the Shawnee Optimist scheduled for Jan. 20 has been moved to Feb. 24 at Shawnee High School. The event begins at 1 p.m. It is open to boys and girls ages 8 to 13 years of age and there is no fee.
Columbus: The 16th annual Ohio Youth Team State Championships will held Feb. 23-24 in Columbus for boys and girls teams in the third through sixth grade. Three different divisions in each grade based on school size. More than 150 teams are expected to compete. Lima: The 92nd Lima City Golf Men’s Tournament is scheduled to take place June 26-30 at courses in the Lima area. The tournament will begin for the Open Flight players with a qualifying round on June 26 at Colonial Golfers Club. The Senior Flights will start that day with qualifiers at Bluffton Golf Club. The Championship Flight will play a qualifying round Thursday Morning June 27 at Colonial Golfers Club and will then play their first round of match play that afternoon. The Open Flights will play their first round of Match Play that day at Bluffton and the Senior Flights Match Play will begin at Springbrook Golf Club. Friday will see all flights playing at Hidden Creek. The semifinals and finals are scheduled to take play Saturday and Sunday from Shawnee Country Club. Carts will be included for all rounds. The Lima YMCA is holding a preschool and youth gymnastics program for boys and girls ages 18 months and older. Classes have started. The fee is $20 for member and$40 for non members.

Ottoville: The Ottoville Mother’s Club will be playing host to its 10th annual 5K Ottoville Big Green Boost Up. Proceeds to help Ottoville students with individual educational needs. Columbus Grove: The 41st annual BBO road race will be held in Columbus Grove on Saturday, March 9. The race will begin at 2 p.m. in downtown Columbus Grove and will be four miles long through town and out into the country and back, all on paved roads. Registration the day of the race will begin at noon and will take place in Columbus Grove’s high school gymnasium. An awards ceremony will be held there as well, following the race. There will be many awards given as there are many age groups for both male and female participants. Each runner will receive a coupon for one bowl of “hobo stew” and t-shirts are available for purchase while supplies last. Door prizes will be given away shortly after the race.
