Roundup: Wapakoneta stays alive in WBL girls basketball championship chase

WAPAKONETA — The host Redskins remained in the race to gain a share of the Western Buckeye League girls basketball title with a 30-18 victory Thursday night against Defiance.

Wapak (12-9) moved to 7-1 in league games, one back of 8-0 Ottawa-Glandorf. Audra Schuab had 12 points and Addy Allen scored six for the Redskins. Defiance fell to 5-13 overall and 4-4 in the WBL.

St. Marys 42, Celina 35

ST. MARYS — Carly Caywood had 10 points and Lauren Cisco and Noelle Puane each scored eight for the host Roughriders (10-10, 5-3 WBL). Maddy Luebke had eight points and Makenna Klingshirn, Emily Braun and Brooke Robbins each scored six for Celina (5-15, 2-6 WBL).

Bath 56, Van Wert 37

BATH TOWNSHIP — Dasia Hardison had 13 points and Chandler Clark scored 12 for the host Wildkittens (9-10, 6-2 WBL). Abby Jackson had 10 points and Alexis Metz scored nine for the Cougars (5-14, 2-6 WBL).

Elida 46, Shawnee 44

ELIDA — Amira Freeman had 16 points and Amiah Jones and Cienna Kuhn each scored six for the host Bulldogs (7-12, 2-6 WBL).

Toledo Central Catholic 75,

Lima Senior 51

TOLEDO — Spartans (14-7) fell to 9-4 in the Three Rivers Athletic Confernce while Central Catholic (11-8) improved to 10-3. No other information was reported about this game. Nakiya Sigman had 20 points and Destiny McDonald scored eight for Lima Senior.

Lincolnview 41, Ada 20

ADA — Adia Welch had 15 points and Lana Carey scored nine for the visiting Lancers (7-14, 1-6 Northwest Conference). Timber Blankenship had five points for the Bulldogs (1-18, 0-7 NWC).

New Knoxville 34

MINSTER — The host Wildcats (19-1), ranked No. 2 in Division IV, clinched at least a share of the Midwest Athletic Conference title with an 8-0 league mark. Ivy Wolf had 22 points and Demeris Wolf scored 10 for Minster. Erin Scott had 11 points and Taylor Doty scored seven for the Rangers (14-7, 4-4 MAC).

ROCKFORD — Melanie Koenig had 12 points and Taylor Zuber and Hannah Will each scored nine for the Blue Jays (13-6, 5-4 MAC). Clara Hellwarth had six points and Leah Harshman scored five for the Panthers (3-16, 0-8 MAC).

Bluffton 45, LCC 26

BLUFFTON — Alivia Koenig had 18 points and Averey Rumer scored 14 for the Pirates (13-5). Mary Kelly Mulcahy and Rosie Williams each had six points for the Thunderbirds (10-11).

Crestview 45, Paulding 43

CONVOY — Bailey Gregory (16), Lexi Gregory (12) and Olivia Cunningham (10) each scored in double digits for Crestview (13-5, 5-2 NWC). Bri Townly had 16 points and Chelsi Geisige scored 14 for Paulding (8-10, 2-5 NWC).

MCGUFFEY — Avery Sanders had 15 points and Bri Hurley scored 11 for USV (2-15, 0-7 NWCC).

PANDORA — Regan Russell had 11 points and Lacie Fensttemaker scored for P-G (3-16, 0-10 Blanchard Valley Conference).

Vanlue 46, Cory-Rawson 26

VANLUE — Mackenzie Cascaden had seven points and Zoe Chisholm scored six for C-R (4-17, 0-10 BVC).

SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP — Elida’s Connor Douglass (126 pounds), Dalton Swickrath (132) and Brock Lyons (285) and Shawnee’s Cory Beach (120) all recorded pins. Elida’s Bailey Gibson (138) also won by major decision.

Triple dual match

RAWSON — Allen East defeated host Cory-Rawson 46-26 and fell 36-35 to Liberty-Benton, which also defeated C-R 51-15.
