Lima Senior ranked No. 8

COLUMBUS — After beating Toledo Whitmer Friday, Lima Senior has cracked into the top 10 in the Division I Ohio High School Athletic Association poll released Monday.

The Spartans (10-2) came in ranked No. 9 after handing 64-52 to hand Whitmer its first loss of the season. Coincidentally, Whitmer came in ranked NO. 8 despite the loss.

In Division II, Lima Shawnee makes its first appearance on the year. The Indians, coming off 70-49 victory over Van Wert, improved to 13-1 on the season and came in ranked No. 12.

Ottawa-Glandorf, who plays Lima Shawnee Friday, remained ranked No. 8 in the Division III poll and Crestview, who are coming off a big win over Minster over the weekend, come in ranked No. 2. St. Henry is ranked No. 4.



Coldwater defeated Wapakoneta in the finals to capture the 2019 Pioneer Classic title that featured 19 teams held at 20th Century Monday.

Individually, St. Marys’ Gunner Kruse finished with the high game (244) and high series (646). Wapakoneta’s Jon Hefner was second with a 592 series and Jonathon Alder’s Andrew Clark was third with a 587 and Northmont’s Jacob Fitzwater was fourth with a 573 series. Rounding out the top five was St Marys’ Derek Fisher who rolled a 571.


Columbus Grove 55, Fort Jennings 27

FORT JENNINGS — Columbus Grove’s Rylee Sybert scored 13 points and grabbed five rebounds and teammate Kenzie King chipped in 10 points and dished out six assists. Angel Schnieder snared seven rebounds and scored five points. For Fort Jennings Kristen Luersman scored 14 points.

Kalida 56, Ayersville 41

KALIDA — Kalida’s Makayla Maag scored 22 points and Abby Wurth grabbed nine and scored four points. Grace Klausing snared six rebounds and scored six points. For Ayersville, Ashlee Tressler and Felicity Eicher each had seven points.


Jackson Center 50, New Knoxville 24

NEW KNOXVILLE — New Knoxville’s Sam Anspach had nine points.
