Boys basketball roundup: Lima Senior tops Whitmer

LIMA — Pre-sale tickets for Tuesday’s Lima Central Catholic at Lima Senior boys basketball game will begin Monday when season ticket hold, players, parents and staff can purchase tickets (limit two) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lima Senior athletic office.

Sales to the general public will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Reserve tickets will be sold first before general admission to guarentee seating. All tickets will be $7 for adults and $5 for students.

TOLEDO — Lima Senior went on the road Friday night and came back with a 64-52 Three Rivers Athletic Conference win to knock Whitmer from the ranks of the unbeaten in boys high school basketball.

Jamir Simpson led the Spartans (10-2, 6-1 TRAC) with 16 points, Josiah Fulcher added 13 and Jaleel King 11.

Whitmer falls to 10-1, 6-1 in the TRAC.

Shawnee 70, Van Wert 49

SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP — A balanced Shawnee scoring attack led the Indians to a Western Buckeye League beating of Van Wert.

George Mangas guided the Indians in the scoring column with 21 points, including three treys, Sheridan O’Neal added 12 and Tyson Elwer 11. Elwer led on the boards with eight rebounds and Justin Behnke delivered four assists.

Drew Bagley paced the Cougars with 15 points and LeTrey Williams added 11.

Ottawa-Glandorf 97,

Celina 44

CELINA — Owen Hiegel (19), Carter Heringhaus (16), Ethan White (15), Ben Westrick (15), BJ Fortman (11) and Brennen Blevins (10) each scored in double digits for O-G. Brett Schwieterman had 15 points for Celina.

Kenton 57, St. Marys 51

KENTON — In a Western Buckeye League affair, Kenton held on to knock off St. Marys.

Leading the Wildcats were Jaron Sharp with a 32-point game, putting in 14-of-16 from the foul line, along with eight by Trent Lawrence.

Leading the Roughriders were 14 from Ethan Steger, 11 by Max Mielke and 10 by Braeden Dunlap.

Elida 61, Wapakoneta 58 (OT)

WAPAKONETA — Dante Wheeler connected on rebound basket with 1.2 seconds remaining to force overtime and Max Parker and Dylan Buetner hit late free throws to give the Bulldogs (8-5, 3-1 WBL) the victory against the Redskins (10-3, 2-2 WBL).

Coldwater 71, Delphos St. John’s 49

COLDWATER — Coldwater shot 55 percent from the field (24-of-43) to lead the way in a Midwest Athletic Conference defeat of Delphos St. John’s.

Pacing the Cavaliers were a 29-point eruption by Marcus Bruns and 18 came from Cole Frilling. Ben Wenning and Noah Miller led on the boards with five each, while Myles Blasingame added four assists and Miller three steals.

Grant Csukker led the Blue Jays with 13 points and Jared Wurst added 10. Wurst totalled seven rebounds to lead that department.

Temple Christian 65, Riverside 61 (OT)

DEGRAFF — Lima Temple Christian outscored Riverside 12-8 in overtime to claim a Northwest Central Conference triumph.

Brody Bowman exploded for 40 points to lead the Pioneers (5-6, 3-1 NWCC), while Dakota Clay added a double-double: 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Lincolnview 67, Allen East 57

MIDDLE POINT — Lincolnview took control with a 19-7 second period and went on to a Northwest Conference downing of Allen East.

Leading the Lancers were Zane Miller with 22 points and Alek Bowersock with 11. Colin Overholt dished five assists and Ethan Kemler grabbed six rebounds.

On behalf of the Mustangs, Tyler Clum led the way with 24 points, Bradden Crumrine added 12 and 10 came from Devin Reed. Reed chipped in five assists and seven rebounds.

Waynesfield-Goshen 43, Elgin 39

MARION — Waynesfield-Goshen held on for a tight Northwest Central Conference victory over Elgin.

Pacing the Tigers were Layton Campbell with 13 points and 11 came from Britton Elliott.

Continental 36, Fort Jennings 34

FORT JENNINGS — Two players scored all the Continental points in its Putnam County League win over Fort Jennings.

Almost doing all the damage for the Pirates was Mitchell Coleman with 28 points, including six 3-pointers. Reed Warnement scored the other eight points.

Ian Ricker led the Musketeers with 21 points, including four 3-pointers.

Pandora-Gilboa 59, Arcadia 29

ARCADIA — Pandora-Gilboa outscored Arcadia 48-19 in the final three periods to blow open a close game and grab a Blanchard Valley Conference bashing of Arcadia.

Jared Breece led the Rockets (8-5) with 21 points and Riley Larcom and Zeb George added 11 each. Breece completed a double-double with 10 rebounds and Larcom added eight.

Bluffton 51, Spencerville 47

SPENCERVILLE — Bluffton had to battle but eventually worked its way to a Northwest Conference win over Spencerville.

Luke Denecker led the Pirates (10-3, 3-1 NWC) with 19 points and Jared Piercefield was close behind with 18.

Keegan Goecke led the Bearcats (1-10, 0-4 NWC) with 16 points and Jackson Goecke and Tyler Koenig chipped in nine each.

Paulding 66, Delphos Jefferson 41

PAULDING — Paulding put nine players in the scorebook in grabbing a Northwest Conference win over Jefferson.

Pacing the Panthers (4-7, 2-2 NWC) were Fletcher Cook with 19 points and Jacob Eblin with nine.

On behalf of the Wildcats (0-12, 0-3 NWC), Ian Wannemacher scored 14 points and Jeffrey Caputo and Doug Long, Jr. added nine.

Crestview 65, Ada 35

CONVOY — Crestview used solid shooting from the field to rout Ada in a Northwest Conference game

Kalen Etzler led the Knights (11-1), who canned 24-of-50 from the floor, with 17 points, including three 3-pointers, and Derick Dealey added 16.

Connor Frazier led the Bulldogs (2-11) with eight points and five rebounds and Phillip Coulson added seven points.

Ottoville 49, Miller City 34

MILLER CITY — Ottoville shot 17-of-35 from the floor to grab a Putnam County League win over Miller City.

Ryan Suever canned 12 points to lead the Big Green and Drew Fisher added 10. Grant Kortokrax and Josh Thorbahn led on the glass with five each and Joe Miller grabbed three steals.

Luke Lammers and Jon Burgei tallied seven points each for the Wildcats. Lammers added five rebounds.

Minster 45, Marion Local 42

MARIA STEIN — Minster knocked Marion Local out of the ranks of the Midwest Athletic Conference’s league unbeatens with a close win over the Flyers.

Leading Minster were Mike Ketner with 22 points and six rebounds and Jack Heitbrink with eight points.

For the Flyers, Nathan Bruns totalled 12 points and five assists and Sam Huelsman eight points and nine boards.

St. Henry 62, Versailles 59

ST. HENRY — St. Henry won the fourth period 18-12 to rally for a MAC win over Versailles.

Caden Niekamp led the Redskins with 22 points and seven rebounds and got help from 14 points by Jay Knapke and 10 points from Zach Niekamp. Zach Niekamp, Caden Niekamp and Ethan Thieman led with three assists each.

Evan Hiestand led the Tigers with 19 points and three steals, while Connor VanSkyock added 12 points and Michael Stammen 11 points, eight assists and five rebounds.

Fort Recovery 75, New Knoxville 51

FORT RECOVERY — Fort Recovery took a 21-15 first-period lead and slowly built it the rest of the way in a Midwest Athletic Conference victory over New Knoxville.

Leading the Indians were Payton Jutte with a 31-point explosion, backed by 13 points from Clay Schmitz and 12 by Noah Lennartz.

The Rangers put three players in double digits: Patrick Covert with 19 points, Sam Anspach with 15 and Jared Osborne 11.

New Bremen 51, Parkway 48

NEW BREMEN — New Bremen shot 51 percent from the floor in leading the Cardinals to a Midwest Athletic Conference triumph over Parkway.

Guiding the Cardinals, who canned 21-of-41 shots from the floor, were Bryce Blickle with 15 points and Patrick Wells with 14. Brandon Heitkamp led in rebounding with five and Blickle added five assists.

For the Panthers, Dylan Hughes was the top scorer with 14 points and Preston Stober added 12. Caleb Kinney’s six rebounds led in that department, Hughes had three blocked shots, Caleb Kinney finished with three steals and Corey Walls two steals.
