MAC boys basketball roundup: Delphos St. John’s remains unbeaten in league games

DELPHOS — St. John’s opened quickly with a 24-8 edge after the first period and went on to a 59-44 Midwest Athletic Conference triumph Friday night against Fort Recovery.

Lucas Metcalfe erupted for 27 points to lead the Blue Jays (9-3, 3-0 MAC) and Jared Wurst added 11.

Pacing the Indians (6-5, 1-3 MAC) were Noah Lennartz with 12 points and Payton Jutte chipped in 10.

Minster 51, Coldwater 42

MINSTER — Minster outscored Coldwater 10-3 in the final period to secure a Midwest Athletic Conference contest over Coldwater.

Leading the Wildcats (8-, 2-1 MAC) were 16 points by Mike Ketner and 11 by 6-9 Jarod Schulze. Schulze led in rebounding with nine and 6-6 Cory Frericks added eigth.

Leading the Cavaliers (4-6, 1-2 MAC) was the double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds by Cole Frilling. Marcus Bruns added 13 points and six boards. Frilling and Jacob Wenning delivered three assists apiece.

St. Henry 61, New Bremen 31

ST. HENRY — St. Henry shot 57 percent from the field and went on to a Midwest Athletic Conference drubbing of New Bremen.

Leading the Redskins (8-2, 2-1 MAC) were Jay Knapke and Caden Niekamp with 13 points each. Knapke led in rebounding with eight and Zach Niekamp added three assists. The Redskins shot 23-of-40 from the floor.

Guiding the Cardinals (4-5, 1-2 MAC) were Nolan Bornhorst and Patrick Wells with seven points each. Bornhorst led on the glass with six and Wells chipped in three steals.

Marion Local 68, Parkway 38

ROCKFORD – Marion Local started strong with a 15-8 edge after the first period and went on to a Midwest Athletic Conference rout over Parkway.

Nathan Bruns led the Flyers (5-3, 3-0 MAC) with 23 points, aided by Nick Tangeman with 14 and Max Albers 12. Bruns led in rebounding with seven, while Tangeman added four assists.

Leading the scoring for the Panthers (5-5, 0-3 MAC) were Dylan Hughes with 12 points and Preston Stober with 11. Hughes and Caleb Kinney topped the rebounders with five each and Mason Baxter contributed four steals.

Versailles 57, New Knoxville 18

VERSAILLES — The Tigers improved to 8-4 overall and 3-1 in the MAC while New Knoxville is now 2-8 (0-3 MAC).
