NWC boys basketball roundup: Bluffton has three score at least 20

PAULDING — The 1-2-3 punch of Luke Denecker, Mason Soper and Jared Piercefield combined for 63 points in leading Bluffton over Paulding 75-67 in a Northwest Conference game.

Denecker was the top scorer for the Pirates with 22, along with 21 from Soper and 20 by Piercefield.

Fletcher Cook led the Panthers with 26 points and Carson Shull added 21.

Ada 47, Delphos Jefferson 45

ADA — Ada closed with a 14-4 advantage in the fourth period to rally past Jefferson in a Northwest Conference game.

Leading the Bulldogs in scoring were Phillip Coulson with 16 points and nine from Brandon Hull. Connor Frazier grabbed 10 rebounds.

For the Wildcats, Ian Wannemacher was the top scorer with 19 points and Hunter Mericle tacked on nine. The Wildcats lost despite winning the rebounding game 31-20.

Crestview 50, Allen East 38

CONVOY — Crestview’s Wade Sheets scored 12 points and Javin Etzler added 11 with Kaden Etzler chipping in 10 to help pick up the big NWC victory.

The Knights’ defense held Allen East to single digits in scoring in the first three quarters to build a 22-14 halftime lead that grew to 35-22 going into the fourth quarter.

For Allen East, Tyler Clum scored 16 points.

Crestview improves to 1-1 in the NWC and 5-2 overall and Allen East slips to 1-1 in conference play and 4-2 for the season.
