The Lima Diamondbacks 18U travel team has a few positions available for the 2019 summer season. This team is for this year’s high school seniors and juniors and will play a competitive tournament schedule. The team will practice during the winter in the FAST facility in Lima. The “Border Battle” holiday tournament presented by Block Insurance Agency will be played at Ada High School from Thursday, Dec. 27, through Saturday, Dec. 29.
The tournament will feature the varsity boys girls teams from Ada, Allen East, Waynesfield-Goshen and Upper Scioto Valley. Here is the schedule:
Dec. 27: Allen East vs. Waynesfield-Goshen girls at 6 p.m. followed by Ada vs. USV girls.
Dec. 28: Allen East vs. Waynesfield-Goshen boys at 6 p.m. followed by Ada vs. USV boys at 8 p.m.
Dec. 29: Girls consolation game at noon followed by boys consolation game. Girls championship game at 6 p.m. followed by boys title game.

The sixth annual Wildcat third, fourth, fifth and sixth grade tournament will be held Saturday, Feb. 23, and Sunday, Feb. 24, at Delphos Jefferson Schools. This is for girl steam. There will be separate divisions for each grade level. Each team will be guaranteed a minimum of three games. Entry fee for this event is $125. The Lima Area Tennis Association is offering a free middle school program again in 2019. The program will run from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. every Sunday from Jan. 13 until March 3 at Westwood Tennis and Fitness, 3101 W. Elm St. This is the third year this program has been offered to area youth (ages 12-14) in hopes on developing solidtennis skills and interest in joining high school tennis teams. The program includes professional instruction and an organized team tournament. Participants must havetennis shoes. If a participant does not have a racquet, one will be provided.
