The start times for today’s Van Wert at Lincolnview JV and varsity games will begin earlier in order not to conflict with the Big Ten Championship game between Ohio State and Northwestern. The junior varsity game is scheduled for 5 p.m. with the varsity game to follow at approximately 6:30 p.m.

TOLEDO — The Ohio high school boys basketball season got underway throughout Northwest Ohio on Friday night as Anthony Wayne outscored Lima Senior 21-13 in the second quarter on their way to a season-opening 68-60 victory over the Spartans.

Jamir Simpson led a trio of Spartans (0-1) in double digits with 16, while Josiah Fulcher added 14 and Kahlil Luster added 10.

Kenton 78, Indian Lake 48

LEWISTOWN — Jaron Sharp’s 28 points led Kenton to a triumph over Indian Lake.

Jacob Eversole chipped in 15 for the Wildcats (1-0) and Jayden Cornell added 10. Kenton blew the game open with a 46-25 spread in the middle two quarters and also netted 12 3-point field goals to four for Indian Lake.

Wapakoneta 62,

Delphos Jefferson 31

DELPHOS — Wapakoneta doubled up Jefferson 17-8 in the opening period.

Adam Scott’s 27 led the Redskins (1-0) and Aaron Good tacked on 12.

Hunter Mericle’s was high scorer for the Wildcats (0-1) with 13 and Wayne Nader added eight.

Hopewell-Loudon 74,

Hardin Northern 27

BASCOM — Host Hopewell-Loudon dominated Hardin Northern in its own season-opening Tipoff Classic.

Lance Good led the Polar Bears (0-1) with nine points and Hunter Joliff, Owen Wetherill and Luke Wilson added four points each.

Ridgemont 59, Ada 50

RIDGEMONT — Freshman Mason Stuck scored 25 points to lead Ridgemont over Ada.

Stuck, a 6-4 forward, netted five 3-point field goals in his outburst and received 19 points from Landon Newland to lead the way for Ridgemont (1-0).

Three players scored in double digits for the Bulldogs (0-1): Connor Fraizer led the way with 15 points, while Phillip Coulson added 14 and Brandon Hull 11.

Paulding 49, Continental 46

CONTINENTAL — Paulding rallied with a 15-9 fourth period spread to down Continental.

Jaret Miller topped the Panthers (1-0) with a total of 26 points and Carson Shull added 11.

Gavin Huff topped the Pirates (0-1) with 15 points, while Mitchell Coleman chipped in 14 and Taron Butler 10. Butler added 10 rebounds.

Arlington 59, Fort Jennings 41

FORT JENNINGS — Three players scored seven points apiece for the host Musketeers (0-1): Evan Hoersten, Simon Smith and Nick Trentman. The Musketeers shot 32 percent from the field (14-of-43)

Bluffton 50, Leipsic 31

LEIPSIC — Jared Piercefield led the way with 17 points as Bluffton knocked off Leipsic.

Baylor Garmatter tacked on 11 points for the Pirates (1-0), who shot 19-of-40 from the field and forced 22 turnovers.

Cole Rieman and Dylan Schroeder countered with 11 points each for the Vikings (0-1), who canned 13-of-47 from the floor.

Tinora 45, Miller City 34

MILLER CITY — After falling behind by two points after the first period, Tinora steadily rallied by Miller City in the Hopewell-Loudon Tipoff Classic.

Nick Gable’s 11 points led the host Wildcats (0-1) and Luke Lammers had eight. The Wildcats shot 13-of-42 from the field.

Allen East 71, Vanlue 34

HARROD — Allen East got off to a quick start with an 18-11 lead after one period and proceeded to rout Vanlue.

Mason Doctson led the balanced Mustangs (1-0) with 12 points and Bradden Crumrine added 11.

St. Henry 65, Spencerville 31

SPENCERVILLE — Caden Niekamp’s 21 led the Redskins (1-0), while Ethan Thieman added 13 and Ben Evers 10. The Redskins dominated the backboards 45-18 as Niekamp led with 11 and they shot 25-of-59 from the field (42 percent).

Jackson Goecke led the Bearcats (0-1) with 11 points and Peyton Brown tossed in seven. The Bearcats shot 11-of-44 from the floor (25 percent).

Minster 73, Houston 48

HOUSTON — Mike Ketner had 26 points and Jacob Salazar and Jarod Schulze scored 12 each for the visiting Wildcats.
