EAST LANSING, Mich. — Ohio State presented a game ball to former OSU and Lima Senior standout William White after Saturday’s 26-6 win over Michigan State.
OSU coach Urban Meyer said White’s son Brendon, a sophomore safety who made his first start Saturday, accepted the ball for his father, who is battling ALS.
“On behalf of the Ohio State football team and Buckeye nation we presented William White the game ball from today’s game. It was kind of cool to see Brendon come up and take it for his father,” Meyer said. “I’ve known William since 1986. He’s a dear friend. He’s one of smartest guys I’ve ever met, one of the greatest football players I’ve ever met.”
Brendon White said, “It was pretty cool. Not only do I have support from my family during my father’s disease but having it come from Buckeye Nation it is very cool. I’m excited to let him know.”
