FINDLAY — Hayden Hicks had two goals and Drew Hoppe and Isaac Mendez had one tally each Wednesday night as Kenton defeated Toledo Central Catholic to reach the regional finals in Division II boys soccer.
The Wildcats (19-0-1) will play Saturday against Bay Village (17-1-2) at a time and location yet to be announced.
Crestview senior quarterback Drew Kline repeated as the offensive player of the year and junior linebacker Eli Yahl from Spencerville was selected as the defensive player of the year in voting by Northwest Conference coaches.
Spencerville’s Chris Sommers was selected as the coach of the year.
Joining Kline on the first team offense were offensive linemen Yahl, Cody Johnson (Columbus Grove), Micah Snyder (Crestview), Ethan Matty (Paulding) and Robbie Gonzalez (Crestview), receivers Wade Sheets (Crestview), Cole Fletcher (Allen East) and Hunter Kesler (Paulding), running backs Cannan Johnson (Spencerville), Garrett Nemire (Columbus Grove) and Joel Lotz (Spencerville) and specialist Wade Sheets (Crestview).
Joining Yahl on the first team defense were linemen Tom Catlin (Spencerville), Cody Johnson (CG), Robbie Gonzalez (Crestview) and Micah Snyder (Crestview), linebackers Brady Hauenstein (Columbus Grove), Brody Brecht (Crestview) and Blake Hershberger (Allen East) and defensive backs Wade Sheets (Crestview), Caleb Barrientes (Columbus Grove), Kale Lee (Spencerville) and Hunter Paxson (Allen East).

LIMA — For the second time in five days, the University of Northwestern Ohio picked up a victory against Lawrence Tech, this time in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference quarterfinals at Racer Stadium.
Agnes Stefansdottir had two goals and teammates Jackie Gardner, a Kalida graduate, Iris Rabot, Julie Cazanave and Ermelinda Almeida each had a tally. Dana Schuller contributed three assists.
UNOH (13-3-3) extended its winning streak to nine with the victory will faces Madonna in a semifinal Saturday at noon at Racer Stadium.
ADA – The Ohio Northern University Athletic Hall of Fame inducted four new members during recent ceremonies as part of homecoming weekend.
The inductees in the fall 2018 class are Karlee (Kanuckel) Badenhop of Liberty Center,, a 2007 graduate who majored in business administration and competed in volleyball; Karen (Lee) Budd of Upper Arlington, a 2005 graduate who majored in biology and competed in women’s tennis; Michael Kluse of Acworth, Georgia, a 2000 graduate who majored in business management and competed in men’s basketball; and Matt Tepe of Cincinnatio, a 1991 graduate who majored in finance and accounting and who competed in football.
