VAN WERT — The defending state champ and No. 3-ranked Cardinals defeated top ranked St. Henry 23-25, 21-25, 25-20, 25-13, 15-13 in a Thursday night Division IV volleyball district final. No other match information was reported by deadline.

at Lima Senior

LIMA — Lima Senior High School will play host to multiple Olympic gold medalist and world record holder Tianna Bartoletta from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Bartoletta specializes in the long jump and sprint events. She is a two-time Olympian with three gold medals. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, she placed fourth in the 100 meters and won her first gold by leading off the world-record-setting 4 x 100 meter relay team.

Bartoletta will speak and work with Spartan track and field team members. Other area schools, teams and individuals are invited at a cost. For information, call 419-549-0134.

Lima Central Catholic’s Erin and Mary Kelly Mulcahy have earned first team all-Northwest District honors. Joining them on the first team were Shelby’s Amanda Ruminski, Lakota’s Kyleigh Dull, Ottawa Hills’ Caroline Dayton and Gibsonburg’s Sydney Leyerle.

LCC’s Meghan Mulcahy received second team recognition and the Thunderbirds’ Dan Reinicke was named coach of the year. LCC’s Hannah Garver and Emma Mayers made honorable mention. Not all those who received recognition were reported.

LIMA — Lima Senior season tickets will go on sale Nov. 1.

Prices are $68 for reserved passes, $65.25 for general admission passes, $43.25 for general admission student passes.
