Lima Central Catholic is atop its region in the latest high school football ratings.
The 9-0 Thunderbirds are in first in Division VI, Region 24 with 9-0 Marion Local (second), 7-2 Coldwater (fourth), 7-2 St. Henry (fifth) and 7-2 Spencerville (sixth) also in the top eight. The top eight teams in each region when the final report is issued Sunday will make the postseason. Also in D-VI, Columbus Grove (6-3) is fourth in Region 22.
Among Western Buckeye League teams, Wapakoneta (8-1) is second in D-III, Region 12, St. Marys (9-0) is second, Van Wert (7-2) is third and Kenton (5-4) is sixth in D-IV, Region 14.
Blanchard Valley Conference members Pandora-Gilboa (9-0) and Leipsic (8-1) are fifth and eighth respectively in D-VII Region 26.
In D-VII, Region 28, Crestview (8-1) is second, Minster (6-3) is fourth, New Bremen (6-3) is eighth and Waynesfield-Goshen (4-5) is ninth but along with 10th-place Hardin Northern (4-5) has been mathematically eliminated according to joeeitel.com.
