Roundup: Girls sectional tennis titles determined

LIMA — Lima Central Catholic’s Olivia Kesner and the Bath doubles team of Esther and Ruby Bolon earned Division II girls sectional tennis crowns Saturday at UNOH.

Kesner defeated St. Marys’ Clare Caywood 6-4, 6-4 in the final. St. Marys’ Allison Vanderhorst topped LCC’s Morgan Chaney 6-3, 6-0 for third place.

The Bolons defeated LCC’s Anna Janowski and Madie Brinkman 6-2, 6-2 for the doubles championship. Van Wert’s Paige Moonshower and Olivia Kline topped Ottawa-Glandorf’s Mariah Schroeder and Abby Schmiedebusch 6-0, 6-2 in the third-place match.

The top four singles players and doubles teams advance to district play Thursday at Bowling Green State University and Saturday at Port Clinton High School.

Division I sectional

FINDLAY — Shawnee’s Aria Patel reached the singles final where she fell 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 to Perrysburg’s Caitlyn Schankula.

Patel teammate Kunmi Ojo fell 6-0, 6-0 to Schankula in the semifinals but rebounded to defeat Lydia Ellinger 6-0, 6-0 for third place.

In doubles, Shawnee’s Sanjana Rajasekaran and Katie Clark fell 6-0, 6-3 to Perrysburg’s Emma Carter and Sydney Onest. The Shawnee then went on to defeat Findlay’s Katelynn Coleman and Kaylor Stocker 6-2, 3-6, 6-4.

Lions Invitational

COLDWATER — Minster (64 points) won the boys team title with Fort Loramie (84), Lincolnview (94), Shawnee (102) and Parkway (131) also finished in the top five among the 18 teams competing.

Fort Loramie’s Jake Rethman (16 minutes, 36.56 seconds) was the race winner. Minster’s Alex Albers (16:59.84), Lincolnview’s Alek Bowersock (17:08.25), Parkway’s Kyle Roth (17:15.94), Lincolnview’s Karter Tow (17:18.25) and Minster’s Luke Barga (17:31.72) were second through sixth respectively. Crestview’s Wyatt Richardson (17:40.12) was ninth followed by Parkway’s Matt Gaerke (17:42.31).

Versailles (94) won the girls event with Fort Loramie (110), Coldwater (134) and Lincolnview (177) rounding out the top five.

Fort Loramie’s Olivia Borchers (20:09.66) was the race winner. Coldwater’s Haley Alig (20:15.62) was second and Shawnee’s Lily Cleaves (20:47.59) finished third. Marion Local’s Kelsey Broering (20:52.97) was fifth followed by Fort Recovery’s Chloe Will (20:54.84). Lincolnview’s Madison Langdon (21:21.18) and Minster’s Emma Meyer (21:30.31) were eighth and 10th respectively.

FOSTORIA — Kalida (249 points) and Leipsic (270) finished 1oth and 11th respectively in the 14 team boys Black Division race. Hopewell-Loudon (58) was the team champ and Ayersville’s Noah Fisher (16:58.29) was the race winner.

Leipsic’s Ethan Chambers (18:52.3) was fourth and Kalida’s Ryan Lucke (19:15.71) and Will Zeller (19:37.21) were 11th and 15th respectively.

In the girls Black Division race, Leipsic’s Losa Quiintero Wensi (23:07.3) and Peyton Henry (24:16.05) were third and sixth respectively behind winner Sarah Reinhart (22:05.34) of Carey. Kalida’s Hannah Berheide (26:08.92) was 21st.

Eisenhart Invitational

WORTHINGTON — Van Wert’s Caylee Phillips (19:28) was eighth in the girls varsity race behind first-place finisher Emma Bucher (17:55) of Centerville.

Van Wert (403 points) finished 14th in the 21 team boys varsity competiton. Gahanna Lincoln (115) was the team champ. Jacob Wasson (17:18) finished 31st to lead Van Wert. Dublin Jerome’s Elliott Cook (16:00) was the race winner.

Antwerp Invitational

ANTWERP — The Paulding girls (106 points) finished fifth as Elyse Manz (22:48) led the way with a fifth-place finish. Makayla Sullivan (20:00) of team champ Hicksville (55) was the girls race winner.

In the boys event, Paulding’s Bailey Manz (18:37) behind race winner Treyvon Hastings (17:55) of Fairview. Paulding did not post a boys team score.

Delphos — Maddie McConnahea had four goals and teammate Emily Dienstberger scored one. Addison Mueller had the goal for Delphos St. John’s.

Kalida 1, Ottawa-Glandorf 0

Kalida — Kathryn Siebeneck scored the game’s only goal on an assist by McKenna Bockrath. Bailey White make nine saves to get the shout in goal. Her O-G counterpart, Paige Sutter, made six saves.

Celina 8, Coldwater 3

CELINA — Reilly Cox had three goals and Celina’s Makenna Klingshirn, Natalie Braun, Emily Braun, Larisa Orick and Jena Wilson and Coldwater’s Ava Giere, Mallory Kremer and Megan Sigler each had one.

CONTINENTAL — Isaiah Good had Continental’s goal.

Temple Christian 2, Lincolnview 0

LIMA — Brody Bowman had two goals off assists by Joshua Engle. Cody Motter got the shutout in goal.

SHAWNEE — Bluffton’s Jonathon Shriner and Shawnee’s Jake Miller each had a goal.

LIMA — Juan Fernandez had three goals and Hunter Coffey, Kyle Lenhart, Kaleb Place, Connor Foor, Brayden Schlenker, Luke Beach, Tristan Gesler and Payne Harshbarger each had one.

Ada 1, Paulding 1

PAULDING — Chris Reyes had Ada’s goal off an assist by Skylar Williams. Teammate Drew Hadley made eight saves in goal.


St. Henry 3, Leipsic 1

ST. HENRY — The No. 1 ranked Division IV Redskins won 25-16, 25-23, 25-27, 25-14.

Hayley Heitmeyer had 17 kills, three aces and three blocks, Liz Scheckelhoff had eight kills, Carlee Siefker had eight kills and 10 digs, Selena Loredo had 18 assists, Lyndie Hazelton had 16 assists, Kacey Dulle had 24 digs and Brooke Brown had 17 digs for the fifth-ranked Vikings.

Allen East wins two

HARROD — The host Mustangs won 25-16, 25-14 against Hardin Northern and 25-10, 25-20 against Cory-Rawson.

Columbus Grove 3, Pandora-Gilboa 0

COLUMBUS GROVE — The Bulldogs won 25-13, 25-13, 25-19. Haley Radabaugh had 16 kills, Rylee Sybert had 25 assists, Lauren Benroth had 12 assists, Emily Ridinger had 10 digs and Peyton Brubaker had four aces for Grove.

Bath goes 1-1

BLUFFTON — Bath defeated the host Pirates 25-13, 25-19 and lost 25-12, 25-16 to Liberty-Benton.

Against Bluffton, Mallory Clark had four kills and three blocks, Riley Iiams had three aces, Caitlyn Renner had seven assists and Kali Armstrong had six digs.

Against Liberty-Benton, Kali Armstong had five digs and a pair of aces, Caitlyn Renner had 13 assists and Mallory Clark had nine kills.

Crestview 3, Delphos St. John’s 1

DELPHOS — The Knights won 25-14, 24-26, 25-23, 25-19.

Lexi Gregory had 17 kills, Avery McCoy had 14 kills and 20 assists, Maddy Lamb had 20 assists, Bailey Gregory had 15 digs and Lauryn Black had 16 digs for Crestview.
