Roundup: Elida’s Unruh throws 5 TD passes in win against Bath

ELIDA — Evan Unruh completed 11 of 16 pass attempts for 158 and five touchdowns as the host Bulldogs defeated Bath 53-14 in Western Buckeye League encounter Friday night.

Unruh also rushed 13 times for 90 yards. Devon Barnett had two touchdown receptions and Marcel Poe, KeShawn Spivey and Arzaiah Little, who had four catches for 89 yards, each had a TD receptions.

Spivey also had a 77-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and Poe had two TD runs.

Tyler Wentling, who had 20 carries for 109 yards, and Cyrus Burden each had a 2-yard TD run for Bath.

Defiance 17, Shawnee 14

SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP — Aaron Cruz scored on a 3-yard touchdown run with 26 seconds remaining to give the Bulldogs the WBL victory.

Shawnee’s Johnny Caprella completed 13 of 19 pass attempts for 203 yards and connected with Peyton Wilson on a 16-yard play for the first TD of the game. Caprella also ran 22 times for 109 yards and a score. Jacob Vorhees had five receptions for 81 yards also for the Indians.

Leipsic 48, Columbus Grove 18

LEIPSIC — Gavin Lomeli ran 24 times for 120 yards and three touchdowns and Dylan Schroeder completed 11 of 14 pass attempts for 147 yards and three touchdowns for Leipsic. Cole Rieman, who had seven catches for 73 yards, had two TD receptions and Tyler Hiegel had one. Juan Pena also had a TD run for the Vikings.

Columbus Grove’s Blake Reynolds completed seven of 19 pass attempts for 153 and had a TD throw to Gabe Clement, who had two catches for 107 yards. Garrett Nemire had a TD run for the Bulldogs.

Pandora-Gilboa 41, Cardinal Stritch 6

PANDORA — Peyton Traxler had 15 rushes for 146 yards and three touchdowns, Jared Breece completed 11 of 13 pass attempts for 161 yards and a pair of scores, both to Travis Maag, and Silas Schenk had a TD run for P-G.

Spencerville 28, Parkway 21

ROCKFORD — Cannan Johnson’s 89-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter proved to be the winning score. Johnson finished with 221 yards rushing on 13 carries and a pair of TDs. Joel Lotz and Dylan Baughman each had a touchdown run also for the Bearcats.

Nick Hawk had 14 carries for 139 yards and two touchdowns and Eli Rich also had a TD run for the Panthers.

Van Buren 35, Bluffton 12

VAN BUREN — Kyle Koontz made a pair of field goals and Deandre Nassar had a 95-yard kickoff return for a TD for Bluffton.

Kenton 49, Celina 13

KENTON — Jaron Sharp completed 15 of 26 pass attempts for 362 yards and four touchdowns and rushed 13 times for 102 yards and a pair of scores. Jayden Cornell caught seven passes for 240 yards and a trio of TDs. Noah Thibault had a TD run and touchdown reception also for the Wildcats.

Celina’s Brett Schweiterman connected with Bransen Miller for a 56-yard TD and also ran 28 yards for another score.

Arlington 37, Ada 6

ADA — Brandon Hull scored a touchdown on a 19-yard run and Phillip Coulson had seven catches for 99 for the host Bulldogs.

Marion Local 42, Patrick Henry 7

MARIA STEIN — Noaln Habodasz rushed 10 times for 112 yards and a score, Brandon Fleck had three TD runs, Nick Tangeman caught a TD pass from Nate Bruns and Kyle Francis returned a kickoff 76 yards for another score for the host Flyers.

Crestview 39, Hicksville 34

HICKSVILLE — Drew Kline ran for a touchdown with 1:05 remaining in the game for the winning score. Kline finished with 23 carries for 184 yards and two TDs and also threw a touchdown pass to Wade Sheets. Brody Brecht had 145 rushing and a TD on 30 carries and Kaden Short had a touchdown run also for the visiting Knights.

Minster 39, Covington 26

COVINGTON — Alex Schmitmeyer ran 23 times for 151 yards and four touchdowns for Minster. August Boehnlein and Trent Roetgerman each caught TD passes from Minster’s Jacob Niemeyer who completed 12 of 17 pass attempts for 266 yards.

New Bremen 48, Mississinawa Valley 8

NEW BREMEN — Nolan Bornhorst completed six of 13 pass attempts for 167 yards and four touchdowns. Grant Selby had two TDs catches and Logan Suchland and Bryce Blickle each had a touchdown reception for the host Cardinals. Justin Tenkman, who had 79 yards on nine carries, Mitchell Hays and Reece Busse each had TD carry for New Bremen.

St. Henry 62, Eaton 0

ST. HENRY — Zach Niekamp 112 yards and three touchdowns on 11 carries and also caught a TD pass from Sam Lefeld, who also had a TD toss to Jaren Fishbaugh. Jay Knapke returned a pair of punts for scores and KJ Jacobs had two TD runs.

Riverdale 45, Hardin Northern 19

DOLA — Hardin Northern’s Owen Wetherill had TD throws to Frank McCoy and Daylin Pees and ran 14 times for 83 yards. Nevin Robson also had a TD run for Hardin Northern.

Upper Scioto Valley 48, Cory-Rawson 41

MCGUFFEY — Quinn Sanders completed 10 of 16 passes for 221 yards and five touchdowns and rushed 24 times for 138 yards and a pair of TDs for USV. JJ Overs, who had nine catches for 165 yards, caught four of Sanders’ TD throws and Kirkland Rohrs caught the other.

Corey-Rawson’s Tommy Stauffer had 232 yards rushing and four touchdowns on 17 carries and threw a 59-yard TD pass to Matt Roth, who finished with a pair of catches for 98 yards. Kyle Schultz also had a TD run for C-R.

Coldwater 31, Clinton-Massie 28

COLDWATER — Jake Hemmelgarn completed 17 of 24 passes for 252 yards and had TD throws to Will Broering, Noah Miller and Cole Frilling for the host Cavaliers. Mitch Niekamp had 71 yards and a TD on 11 carries also for Coldwater.

Fort Recovery 27, Valley View 23

FORT RECOVERY — Derek Jutte, Jacob Acheson and Clay Schmitz, who had a TD throw to Gavin Thobe, each had a TD run for the host Indians.
