2017 postseason: Finished 13th at Sycamore Springs sectional.
Coach’s analysis: This will be a big year for these guys. All six have varsity experience and have been developing their game for a couple of seasons. As a team they set the goal of having a team score of 200. This is the year that they should accomplish that goal.

Top prospects: Nick Wolverton, fr.; Kurt Griffith, sr.; Bryce King, sr.; Brayden Keck, fr.; Noah Macke, fr.; Kyle Schroeder, sr.; Brady Clymer, soph.; Bowan Brubaker, soph.
2017 NWC finish: Seventh in regular season (4-12), in tournament and overall; 3-2 in PCL regular season, second in PCL tournament, 7-3 overall PCL record.
2017 postseason: Tied for seventh at Sycamore Springs sectional.
Coach’s analysis: The Columbus Grove Bulldogs return their top six from 2017 and look to improve on their PCL and NWC rankings. The team will rely on experience to be successful this season.
Crestview
Division III
Coach: Jeremy Best
2017 NWC finish: Sixth in regular season (6-10), seventh in tournament, sixth overall.
2017 postseason: Tied for 10th at Eagle Rock sectional.
Delphos Jefferson
Division III
Coach: Shane Gallmeier (second season)
Home course: Delphos Country Club (35-36 — 71)
Returning letter winners: Matt Schroeder, sr.; Braxton Scalf, jr.; Brady Johnston, jr.; Logan Gallmeier, soph.
Top prospects: John Pseekos, jr.; Julian Grant, soph.; Jacob McDonnahea, fr.; Hunter Graham, fr.
2017 NWC finish: Tied for sixth in regular season (5-11), eighth in tournament and overall.
2017 postseason: Finished 14th at Colonial Golfers Club sectional.
Coach’s analysis: We lost three to graduation and will be looking for someone to step into the leadership role. We return four from last season so there will be an opportunity for the new additions to fill the last two spots. We could move into the top half of the league if we continue to work hard on the short game and course management.
Lincolnview
Division III
Head coach: Daryl Dowdy (seventh season)
Home course: Hickory Sticks (36-36 — 72)
Returning letter winners: Ryan Moody, sr.; Jaden Youtsey, sr.; Braden Evans, sr.; Reece Farmer, sr.; Azne Miller, sr.
Top prospects: Avery Slusher, fr.; Cole Binkley, fr.; Jacob Hawenstein, fr.; James Reinhart, fr.; Landon Price, fr.; Kien German, fr.
2017 NWC finish: Fourth in regular season (11-5), second in tournament, third overall.
2017 postseason: Finished sixth at Colonial Golf Club sectional.
Coach’s analysis: We are looking forward to the upcoming season, with a veteran team which has just fell short of making it to state the past two years. Having five seniors who have been involved with the golf team for three years, this brings a lot of experience to the team to prepare the incoming freshmen to take over after these seniors graduate. I expect great things out of this year’s team. The ultimate goal is always to make it to state, win the conference, get golfers on the all district team, and get golfers on the all-conference team and to perform to the best of their ability. The seniors that are back are hungry after falling short of a conference title and coming in third. This team feels it has a lot to prove to other teams that they do deserve to be one of the top golf teams in the state and with hard work and dedications they will succeed.
Paulding
Division II
Coach: Steve Heilshorn (eighth season)
Home course: Auglaize Golf Club (36-36 — 72)
Returning letter winners: Fletcher Cook, sr.; Cole Heller, sr.; Chad Carper, sr.; Kolson Egnor, jr.; Hunter Kauser, soph.; Hailey Hartzell, soph.
Top prospects: Noah Pessefall, jr.; Josh Carper, fr.; Kyle Dominique, fr.; Boston Pease, fr.; Kyle Rhonehouse, fr.
2017 NWC finish: Tied for second in regular season (13-3), second in tournament and overall.
2017 postseason: Sixth at Country Acres sectional.
Coach’s analysis: This year’s Paulding Panther team will be feeding off of its second-place finish in the NWC. We are setting our goal to win the NWC for the first time since 1993 and the fifth time in school history. The team will have to replace our number one golfer (Cade McGarvey) as well as another varsity contributor (Isaac Baldwin) from last year’s team. I believe the depth that we have in the program as well as us hosting this year’s NWC tournament will give a great opportunity to come out on top of the conference. Once again, Spencerville will be the team to beat. Other teams that I believe will contend will be Lincolnview and Bluffton.
Spencerville
Division III
Coach Mike Harmon (14th season)
Home course: Tamarac Golf Course (36-36 — 72)
Returning letter winners: Drake Mertz, sr.; Alex Gallman, sr.; Ethan Harmon, jr.; Gavin Harmon, jr.
Top prospects: Nate Tucker, jr.; Noah Dunlap, jr.; Evan Core, soph.
2017 NWC finish: First in regular season (15-1), tournament and overall.
2017 postseason: Won Colonial Golfers Club sectional; fourth at Stone Ridge district; 11th at state.
Coach’s analysis: After a few years of being a young team, we are entering this season with mostly upper classmen and guys with a lot of experience. We have a lot of confidence going into this season after a great season last fall. Our guys all get along well and have good team chemistry. We will be working on the mental game and short game a lot this year. Putting is always a focus and this year will not be any different. Mental toughness and moving on after a bad shot will have to get better. We will work on course management and playing smarter this season. Our goal is always to win every match we play. Last year we set a goal of making it to the state tournament and accomplished that. This year we set out to return to the state tournament and improve our performance there. We have a few other goals along the way such as winning the NWC . I expect us to have another great season this year. The guys matured a lot over the summer and have improved their game. I think we will see some pretty good team scores from this group during the season.
MAC
Coldwater
Division II
Coach: Doug Timmerman (seventh season)
Home course: Mercer County Elks (36-36 — 72)
Returning letter winners: Nathan Kaiser, jr.; Alex Wourms, sr.; Austin Riethman, sr.
Top prospects: Collin Muhlenkamp, jr.; Carson Muhlenkamp, soph.; Alex Mestemaker, jr.; Matt Meinerding, soph.; Austin Ebbing, fr.
2017 MAC finish: Sixth in regular season (4-5 in conference matches), fifth in tournament and overall.
2017 postseason: Seventh at Country Acres sectional.
Coach’s analysis: I have three returning varsity players and several who show potential to fill the open varsity spots. The Muhlenkamp boys have moved into Coldwater and therefore will only be able to play in half of the matches per OHSAA. They will help us for the first part of the season. The returning players will be and have been helpful to the freshmen. The freshmen all show signs of improving already. We hope to compete for the top third of the MAC.
Delphos St. John’s
Division III
Coach: John Klausing (ninth season)
Home course: Delphos Country Club (35-36 — 71)

2017 MAC finish: Second in regular season (8-1) and overall, third in tournament.
2017 postseason: Third at Colonial Golfers Club sectional; seventh at Stone Ridge district.
Coach’s analysis: This season we again should be competitive in our league with the return of our number one, two and four man this year. We will be looking again for that fourth score to complete our team final score total. Our underclassmen have worked hard this summer.
Fort Recovery
Division III
Coach: Matt Kerns
2017 MAC finish: Ninth in regular season (1-8) and overall, eighth in tournament.
2017 postseason: 13th at Colonial Golfers Clubs sectional.
Marion Local
Division III
Coach: David Koenig (five years)
Returning letter winners: Tim Knapschaefer, sr.; Seth Kelch, sr.; Logan Fleck, soph.
Top prospects: Bryce Moeller, jr.; Alex Eyink, soph.
2017 MAC finish: 10th in regular season (0-9), tournament and overall.
2017 postseason: 12th at Colonial Golfers Club sectional.
Coach’s analysis: With these young guys and inexperience we would like to see them compete against one another to form one of the better teams in the league. We know in order to become good golfers we will need to keep working on all aspects of the game to become better but will really need to work on having consistent low scoring. Tim Knapschaefer and Seth Kelch have worked on their games this summer to be a lot more competitive. Marion Local has 18 golfers this season and three returning letterman from last year’s team. We also have seven new golfers and eight guys from last year’s team fighting for six varsity spots. These young men will be competing for every spot for both varsity and JV time. This season with not many returning players and new players we hope to compete not only against each other but against our conference as well.

2017 MAC finish: Third in regular season (6-3), sixth in tournament and overall.
2017 postseason: Fifth at Colonial Golfers Club sectional.
Coach’s analysis: We are fairly young, so we are looking to work on improving our ball striking and not losing shots on and around the green. Mason Baxter qualified for districts last year, so we hope he can continue the form he showed last season.
St. Henry
Division III
Coach: John Dorner

2017 MAC finish: First in regular season (9-0), tournament and overall.
2017 postseason: Second at Colonial Golfers Club sectional; eighth at Stone Ridge district.
Coach’s analysis: The Redskins should have another solid season in 2018 with three returning lettermen. Grieshop returns in 2018 after sitting out 2017 with back issues/ Andrew Mescher steps up after golfing JV No. 1 last year. Freshman Sam Koesters (Reed’s younger brother) will look to jump into the scoring column in 2018 as well.

Coach’s analysis: We have all six players back from last year’s team, but none are seniors. So, class-wise, we are still young, but we have plenty of match experience. We are going to take one day at a time and just focus on improving each day. With consistent practice habits and effort the wins will eventually come.

2017 postseason: 10th at Valley View sectional.
Coach’s analysis: We are looking for continued improvement from the letter winners in their chipping and putting, Last year they worked on their short game and improved a lot. This year they should keep on improving with the practice they do and look forward to lowering their scores by five to 10 strokes per round. The team hits their drives straight fairly consistently. With more practice, however, they should keep hitting the ball straight and increase their distance. The newcomers are excited about playing and the coaches are looking forward to see their game improve. The experienced golfers are being very helpful in giving advice and encouragement to the new golfers. The season should be an enjoyable one with the attitude of the golfers as we expect to see improvement all season long.

2017 postseason: Sixth at Sycamore Springs sectional.
Coach’s analysis: Brady has a solid chance for player of the year in the conference. He missed state last year by one shot. The team has a good chance to the conference and a possible chance to get to district.

Coach’s analysis: We do a nice job of being competitive every time we step on a course. We need to work on our short game and reduce three putts. Gauge Rumor has really improved this offseason. I look for him to fit right into the two spot. He will surprise some coaches with his improvement this year. Hyatt Kaufman will surprise some people. He worked really hard to get his average down to a 40. We are looking to compete in the league and be in the fight for the top positions after the league tournament. Also, we look for improvement in our team score at sectional time.
