Locos fall behind in division race

WINDSOR, Ontario — The Lima Locos moved a half game behind in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League Northern Division race with a 4-1 loss Thursday night to first-place St. Clair.

The Locos will play the Green Giants again at 7:05 tonight at Lacasse Field.

Michael Diffley (Arizona Christian) knocked in Lima’s run and teammates Brad Croy (Bowling Green/Ottawa-Glandorf) and Justin Wiley (Alabama-Birmingham) each had two hits. One of Wiley’s hits was a double. Daniel Seres (Kennesaw State) also doubled for the Locos.

Locos starter Tanner Hall (Mercer) allowed two runs, seven hits and a walk while striking out nine in six innings. One earned run was scored on Jake Meyer (Georgia Highlands/Spencerville) and Brison Finney (Kennesaw State) finished the night on the mound for Lima, allowing no runs or hits and a walk while striking out five in 1 2/3 innings.

The Locos are scheduled to play their last regular season home game at 7:05 p.m. Saturday against Grand Lake at Simmons Field and will play at 4:35 p.m. Sunday on the road against the Mariners. The postseason starts Tuesday with the play-in games involving the second- and third-place teams in each division.
