DELPHOS — Tanner Sweede had the low round of the day of 73 in securing the boys 16-18 divison title during Thursday’s Lima Junior Golf Association - McDonald’s Junior Series Dick Clark Real Estate Open at the par 71 Delphos Country Club.
Gavin Harmon defeated Ethan Harmon in a playoff for second after each shot 75.
Jill Schmitmeyer won the girls 16-18 crown with a 76. Meghan Mulcahy shot an 82 for second. Carson Harmon was the boys 14-15 winner with a 74. Joseph Magoto was second with a 77.
In the nine-hole (par 36) competitions, Parker Judy was the boys 12-13 victor with a 38. Connor Nartker topped Collin Feathers in a playoff after each shot 50. Bridget Mulcahy was the girls 15 and younger champ with a 47. Kayla Nartker was second with a 48.
Area seniors qualify for national Olympics
Four Lima area seniors recently competed in the West Virginia State Senior Olympics.
Sam Moening won gold in women’s singles and doubles table tennis. She also won silver in mixed doubles table tennis and mixed doubles tennis. Linda Clay won gold in women’s singles and doubles table tennis and mixed doubles tennis. Tom Dautenhahn won gold in men’s singles and doubles and mixed doubles table tennis and men’s singles and mixed doubles tennis. Bob Leonard won gold in men’s doubles table tennis and men’s singles tennis. He also won silver in men’s singles table tennis and mixed doubles table tennis and mixed doubles tennis.
Ben Storer recently competed in several swimming events at the Ohio State Senior Olympics. He won gold in the 50 butterfly and 50 breaststroke, silver in 100 IM, 50 freestyle and 50 backstroke and bronze in 100 freestyle.
All five qualified to compete in the 2019 National Senior Games in New Mexico.
FAST Friday II at Limaland
LIMA — Limaland Motorsports Park is back in action tonight for FAST Friday II presented by the Homeland Technology Group. The JLH General Contractors FAST 305 Sprints will be in action along with the K&N Filters UMP Modifieds and Bud Thunderstocks. Pit gates open at 4:30 p.m. Grandstand gates open at 5 p.m. Hot laps at 6:30 p.m. and racing at 7:30 p.m. General admission for ages 16 and older is $12, ages 11-15 will get in for $6, and those 10 and younger get in Free.
