MIDLAND, Mich. — The Lima Locos held on for a 7-6 Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League victory Wednesday night as the host Saginaw Sugar Beets scored twice in the ninth.
The Locos fell into a 3-0 hole in the first inning but bounced back with three runs in the fourth and then took the lead with a run in the fifth. Saginaw tied the game in the sixth only to see Lima score once in the seventh and then two times in the ninth.
Michael Diffley (Arizona Christian) had two hits, including a double, and two RBI, Brad Croy (Bowling Green/Ottawa-Glandorf) had two hits and two RBI, Jess Davis (Alabama-Birmingham) had a single, double and an RBI, Cade Beloso (LSU) had a hit and an RBI and Tyler Simon (Kennesaw State) tripled for the Locos (17-10).
Troy Cordrey (Alabama-Birmingham) got the win with three innings of relief and Jordan Marks (South Carolina Upstate) recorded a save.
Lima will play at 7:05 tonight against the Cincinnati Steam at Simmons Field.
