Copperheads strike with 2 runs in 7th to edge Lima Locos 8-7

ATHENS — The Lima Locos saw their 7-5 lead disappear as the host Copperheads scored once in the sixth and twice in the seventh for an 8-7 Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League victory Saturday night.

The Locos posted three runs in the third only to have Southern Ohio counter with five runs in the bottom of the same inning. Lima got the lead back with a run in the fourth and three more in the sixth before the Copperheads got the lead back for good.

Tyler Simon (Kennesaw State) had two hits, including a home run, and two RBI, Cade Beloso (LSU) had three hits, including a double, and an RBI, Daniel Seres (Kennesaw State) had two hits and an RBI, Brad Croy (Ottawa-Glandorf/Bowling Green) had a single and a double, Michael Diffley (Arizona Christian) doubled and had an RBI and John Privitera (Missouri State) had two RBI for the Locos.

The Locos (12-6) will play the Copperheads (13-4) at 5:35 p.m. today in Athens before taking on St. Clair at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday and 5:35 p.m. Wednesday at Simmons Field.
