VAN WERT — Jill Schmitmeyer and Ethan Harmon each shot 1-under 71s in winning 16-18 division titles Thursday in the Lima Junior Golf Association - McDonald’s Junior Series Lee Kinstle GM Open at Hickory Sticks Golf Club.
Erin Mulcahy and Nicholas Fischio each finished second with 72s.
Carson Harmon was the boys 14-15 winner with an 80 followed by Joseph Magoto with an 84.
In the nine-hole par 36 competition, Emma Mayers (47) was first and Bridget Mulcahy (52) second in the girls 15 and younger tourney. Connor Nartker shot 45 to win the boys 12-13 event. Noah Neth finished with a 53 for second.

DES MOINES, Iowa — Former Ohio Northern runner Emily Richards qualified for the semifinals in the 800 meters at the USATF Outdoor Championships.
Richards had the 13th best time of 2:03.35. The top 16 advanced.
Lima Senior graduate Ruben Flowers III has announced he will be playing football this season at Independence Community College in Independence, Kansas.
Flowers decided to transfer from Pittsburgh following his redshirt freshman season in 2017.
