Roundup: Wapakoneta duo share WBL baseball player of the year honors

Wapakoneta’s Don Goodes and Manny Vorhees have named Western Buckeye League baseball co-players of the year. The Redskins’ Jason Brandt earned coach of the year honors.

Joining Goodes and Vorhees on the first team are Joel Roediger (Wapakoneta), Luke Burger (Elida), Lawson Blackmore (Van Wert), Jacob Hutchins (Shawnee), Logan Andonian (Defiance), Hayden Maples (Van Wert), Chase Schreiber (Ottawa-Glandorf), Trent Reichelderfer (Kenton).

The final State Softball Coaches Association has Parkway ranked No. 2 in Division IV in the final poll of the season. The Panthers, who will play Newton Local in a regional semifinal at 2 p.m. today in Greenville, received one first-place vote and finished with 72 points. No. 1 Jeromesville Hillsdale received six first-place votes and had 83 points.

SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP — Shawnee’s Skyler Briggs will be attending Lourdes University and will participate in bowling. Briggs was a four-year letter winner and was second team all-Western Buckeye League his junior and senior years and an all-WOHSBC pick in 2017-18.
