Roundup: Marion Local, St. Henry to battle for district crown in boys basketball

WAPAKONETA — Marion Local moved on to the Division IV boys basketball district finals Tuesday night with a 61-31 victory against fellow Midwest Athletic Conference member New Bremen.

The Flyers held a 20-3 lead at the end of the first quarter that grew to 38-7 by halftime. Tyler Moscher had 20 points and Nathan Bruns scored 14 for Marion Local (20-4). Nolan Barnhorst had six points for the Cardinals (11-14).

Marion Local will play St. Henry (21-3), a 49-46 winner against Minster (15-8), in the district championship at 7 p.m. Friday at Wapakoneta High School.

WAPAKONETA — Curtis Uhlenhake had 15 points and Zach Niekamp scored nine for St. Henry in a battle of MAC foes. Mike Ketner had 11 points and Isaac Schmiesing scored nine for Minster.

LIMA — Lima Senior’s Cordell McDonald (University Saint Francis) and Zyshone Fisher (Mount St. Joseph University) will be signing their national letters of intent at 3 p.m. today in the school’s teachers’ lounge.

Each was selected Three Rivers Athletic Conference honorable mention.
