Ohio Northern’s Bruns surpasses 1,000 points

WILMINGTON — Marion Local graduate Ryan Bruns became the 38th member of Ohio Northern’s 1,000-Point Club in a 95-77 men’s basketball loss at Wilmington on Wednesday evening at Raizk Arena.

Bruns scored 28 points in the contest, giving him 1,013 in 67 games.

The Polar Bears (12-6 overall, 7-4 Ohio Athletic Conference) also got 18 points from Nate Burger and 17 points from Joey DiOrio against the Quakers (8-9, 4-7 OAC).

Earlham College 76, Bluffton 63

RICHMOND, Ind. — Kevin Christie and Bath grad Andrew Renner each had 16 points and Andrew Hunter scored 12 for Bluffton (8-10, 5-6 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference).

ONU 71, Wilmington 48

ADA — Amy Bullimore and Marion Local graduate Emily Mescher led No. 10-ranked Ohio Northern to its 17th consecutive victory at the ONU Sports Center.

The Polar Bears improve to 17-1 overall and 11-0 in the OAC, while the Quakers drop to 9-9 (4-7 OAC).

Bullimore led the way offensively with a game-high 20 points and also pulled down a game-best 12 rebounds, while Mescher added 10 points and grabbed seven boards for Northern.

ONU has now won 27 straight regular season OAC contests.

Bluffton 58, Earlham College 39

BLUFFTON — Allen East graduate Kaycee Rowe had 16 points and 11 rebounds and TJ Mills (13) and Macey Sheerer (11) each scored in double digits for the host Beavers (13-5, 8-3 HCAC).

Siena Heights 72, UNOH 54

ADRIAN, Michigan — The University of Northwestern Ohio fell to 7-15 overall and 3-10 in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference with the loass at Siena Heights (13-10, 7-7 WHAC).

Upper Scioto Valley graduate Emily Patton led UNOH with 22 points while Kierra Billingsley nearly recorded a double-double as she had 10 points and nine rebounds. Bath alum Danielle VanDyne chipped in eight points and seven boards.
