Roundup: Crestview turns away Shawnee in boys basketball

CONVOY — Crestview (10-3) built a 26-13 first-quarter advantage on its way to a 71-55 victory against Shawnee (11-4) in boys high school basketball Tuesday night.

Javin Etzler (17), Derek Stout (14), Wade Sheets (13) and Derrick Dealey (12) each scored in double digits for the victorious Knights. Johnny Caprella had 15 points and Jared Thomas scored 10 for the Indians.

Van Wert 54, Kalida 40

KALIDA — The visiting Cougars (6-7) outscored the Wildcats 35-19 in the second half. Jacoby Kelly (16), Blake Henry (12) and Drew Bagley (11) each scored in double digits for Van Wert. Trevor Lambert had 15 points and Owen Recker scored eight for Kalida (11-3).

Findlay at Lima Senior

games on Friday

LIMA — The rescheduled Findlay at Lima Senior freshman, JV and varsity games will be played Saturday.

The freshmen will play at 4:30 p.m., the JV at 6 p.m. and the varsity at 7:30 p.m. The games were originally scheduled for Jan. 12 but had to be postponed due to inclement weather.

HAVILAND — Alli McClurg had 14 points and Addy Stewart and Devyn Carder each scored 10 for Delphos Jefferson (11-5).

WAPAKONETA — Lexi Jacobs had 17 points and Samantha Pothast scored eight for Wapak (10-5). Tasia Lauth, Samantha Trego and Megan Jurosic each scored six for New Knoxville (6-11_.

St. Marys 51, Marion Local 44

ST. MARYS — Lauren Cisco (18), McKenna Mele (16) and Syd Cisco (12) each scored in double digits for St. Marys (8-8). Kelsey Koenig had 16 points and Kara Evers scored 14 for Marion Local (4-11).

third at competition

NEW MADISON — The Bluffton boys and girls each finished third in team competitions at Tri Village High School.

Those who finished first in their weight class included Daniel Monday, Zavier ONeal (broke meet record in bench and deadlift for a total of 810 pounds) Darby Prichard, Katie Wright, Elizabeth Bourassa and Kim Gordon (broke meet record in bench).

Finishing second in their weight classes were Levi McClain, Caden Habegger, Jordan Siefer, Drew Wilson, Chad Veit (broke meet record in bench) and Olivia Burner.

Third-place finishers: Carson Krupp, Isaiah Schwab, Kayla VanAtta

Fourth-place finishers: Brice Rayle, Brayton Businger, Trent Howard, Amelia Mitchell

Fifth-place finishers: Makaighla Morris, Erin Hotmire
