Roundup: Elida defeats Lima Senior in girls basketball

LIMA — Shyah Wheeler had 16 points and Cienna Kuhn scored 12 as Elida defeated Lima Senior 48-47 in overtime in girls high school basketball Tuesday night.

Nakiya Sigman had 16 points and Talor Washington scored 14 for Lima Senior.

New Bremen 49, St. Marys 33

ST. MARYS — Jane Homan (16), Kelly Naylor (14) and Macy Puthoff (11) each scored in double digits for New Bremen. Syd Cisco had 10 points and Lauren Cisco scored eight for St. Marys.

Boys Basketball

Elgin 50, Temple Christian 33

MARION — Brody Bowman had 23 points for Temple Christian (6-6, 2-1 NWCC). Elgin improved to 10-1 and 4-0 in NWCC.

Wapakoneta 55, New Knoxville 43

WAPAKONETA — Gage Schenk had 23 points and Aaron Good scored 12 for the host Redskins. Nathan Tennerman had 14 points and Ben Lammers scored 11 for the Rangers.

Celina 56, Bath 46

CELINA — Corbin Murphy and Brett Schwieterman each had 13 points for the host Bulldogs. Chad Frey had 14 points and Will Clark scored 13 for Bath.

Shawnee event

gets rescheduled

SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP — The Shawnee Optimist Club-sponsored Pass, Dribble, and Shoot Contest originally scheduled for Jan. 14 will now be held Jan. 28 at Shawnee High School’s Lappin Gymnasium with doors opening at 12:45 p.m.

The contest is free with only a registration at the door by parent or guardian. It is for girls and boys ages 8 to 13. Each participant will receive a free t-shirt! Registration is at 1 p.m. followed a warm-up period. The contest is scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m.

receives HCAC honor

BLUFFTON — Bluffton University senior Kevin Christie has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week after leading the Beavers to a 75-47 win against Defiance on Wednesday and a 73-70 come-from-behind victory at Rose-Hulman on Saturday.

Christie went 15-of-30 (50 percent) for 22.5 points per game. He tallied a career-high 27 in Bluffton’s win against the Engineers that saw the Beavers rally from a 16-point second half deficit.
