Roundup: Bluffton stays unbeaten in NWC girls basketball

BLUFFTON — The host Pirates improved to 10-3 overall and 4-0 in the Northwest Conference with a 45-37 girls high school basketball victory Thursday night against Lincolnview.

Averey Rumer had 14 points and Katie Prater scored 13 for Bluffton. Kayla Schimmoeller and Lakin Brant each had 10 points for the Lancers (5-7, 0-3 NWC).

Defiance 45, Elida 38

ELIDA — Shyah Wheeler had 16 points and Amira Freeman scored eight for Elida (4-8, 1-3 Western Buckeye League).

McComb 44, Pandora-Gilboa 23

PANDORA — Kayla Ferguson had 15 points for P-G.

Riverside 48, Perry 21

PERRY TOWNSHIP — Lily Floyd led Perry Perry (0-8, 0-3 Northwest Central Conference) with seven points.

St. Marys 48, Shawnee 38

ST. MARYS — Makenna Mele had 22 points and Syd Cisco scored eight for St. Marys. Alissa Stahler had 14 points and Eliyana Floyd scored eight for Shawnee.

Columbus Grove 44, Spencerville 27

COLUMBUS GROVE — Lauren Schroeder had 14 points and Carlee McCluer scored 13 for the host Bulldogs (6-6, 3-1 NWC). Nelaya Burden had eight points for the Bearcats (6-4, 2-1 NWC)

Ottoville 61, Continental 19

CONTINENTAL — Kasey Knippen had 15 points and Amber Miller scored 11 for Ottoville (14-0, 4-0 PCL). Addyson Armey had nine points for Continental (1-11, 0-3 PCL).

Bath 45, Celina 23

BATH — Jaidyn Hale had 10 points and Kaleigh Ketcham scored nine for the host Wildkittens (10-3, 3-1 WBL). Lauren Jackson had 12 points for the Bulldogs (1-12, 0-4 WBL).

Allen East 54, Paulding 51

HARROD — Ally Richardson had 18 points and Kate Newland scored 10 for Allen East (6-4, 2-2 NWC). Briana Townley had 18 points and Audrey Manz scored 15 for Paulding (2-11, 0-4 NWC)

SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP — Shawnee’s Mason Adesh (106 pounds), Cain Bentz (152) and Ethan Anderson (162) and St. Marys’ Austin Drummond (132) and Nicholas Myers (285) each recorded pins.

Columbus Grove 33, Riverdale 20

COLUMBUS GROVE — Enoch Jones (182 pounds) and Dylan Sargent (220) each recorded pins for the host Bulldogs.

Military Appreciation

Night at Elida

ELIDA — The Elida Athletic Department will hold a Military Appreciation Night when the Bulldogs play host to Wapakoneta on Friday, Jan. 19 at the Elida Fieldhouse. All active military or veterans who show their military IDs will receive free admission as well as a coupon for a free hot dog, drink and popcorn courtesy of the Elida Athletic Boosters.

Military personnel are welcome to send their name and branch of the military to be displayed on the scoreboard to Athletic Director Dave Evans at

Fans are asked to wear red, white & blue to show their patriotic spirit. A Military Color Guard will also attend to present the Colors. Doors open at 5 p.m. with the JV game starting at 6 p.m. with the varsity game to follow.

Elida’s Peare

sets school mark

Elida senior Gavin Peare broke the school record in the 500 freestyle during a Wednesday meet against Bath and Lima Senior with a time of 5:49.53. He is the son of Eric and Alisha Peare.

The previous record was held by Nick Fraley in 2010 with a time of 5:51.96.
