Roundup: Host Bluffton wins boys high school basketball tournament

BLUFFTON — MVP Kaleb Jefferson had 16 points in leading the host Pirates to a 36-23 victory against Arlington in Saturday night’s championship game of the McDonald’s Holiday Tournament.

Joining Jefferson on the all-tournament team were Bluffton’s Jared Piercefield, who had eight in the title game, and Cole Fruchey, Miller City’s Noah Otto, Cory-Rawson’s Eric Ritter and Arlington’s Jaret Vermillion and Ivan Berry.

Miller City defeated Cory-Rawson 68-51 in the consolation game. Otto had 24 points and teammates Mark Kuhlman (22) and Mitch Gable (13) also scored in double digits. Ritter had 24 points and Kyle Schultz scored 14 also for C-R.

USV 52, Waynesfield-Goshen 31

WAYNESFIELD — Wayne Lowery and Wyatt Daniels had 15 points each and Quinn Sanders scored 11 for Upper Scioto Valley in the Border Battle tournament championship game.

Jaden Maxwell had 15 points and Britton Elliott scored eight for W-G.

Allen East 52, Ada 47

WAYNESFIELD — Brady Harris (16), Devin Reed (15) and Bradden Crumrine (11) all scored in double digits for Allen East in the consolation game of the Border Battle tournament.

Spencerville 37, St. Marys 29

SPENCERVILLE — The host Bearcats (1-7) outscored the Roughriders 16-4 in the fourth quarter to earn their first victory of the season.

Temple Christian 61, Ben Logan 53

LIMA — Noah Howell had 30 points and Brody Bowman scored 24 for Temple Christian (4-5).

Shawnee 59, LCC 55

LIMA — John Caprella, who finished with 22 points, connected on a pair of free throws with 5.2 seconds remaining to seal the win for the Indians (7-2). Sheridan-Lex O’Neal had 12 points and six blocks, Jared Thomas scored 10 and Riley Rosado contributed seven assists for Shawnee. Matthew Cecala had eight points and Brendan Stolly scored eight for LCC (4-5).

WAPAKONETA — Aaron Good had 22 points and Adam Scott scored 12 for the host Redskins.

Ottoville 77, Lincolnview 66

MIDDLE POINT — Logan Kemper (22), Nick Moorman (20), Zane Martin (12) and Ryan Bendele (10) each scored in double digits for Ottoville. Chayten Overholt had 31 points and Caden Ringwald scored 14 for Lincolnview.

St. Henry 62, Coldwater 49

COLDWATER — Tyler Schlaman had 30 points and Zach Niekamp scored 10 for St. Henry in the championship game of the Asset Allocation Holiday Classic. Marcus Bruns had 13 points and Cole Frilling scored 12 for the host Cavaliers.
