Leipsic wins Ayersville girls tournament

BLUFFTON — The host Pirates will play Arlington for the McDonald’s Holiday Tournament title tonight.

Arlington advanced with an 81-75 win against Miller City. Noah Otto (23), Mark Kuhlman (19) and Mitch Gable (16) all scored in double digits for Miller City.

Bluffton reached the championship game with a 42-34 triump against Cory-Rawson. Kaleb Jefferson had 18 points and Dakota Bricker scored 10 for Bluffton. Kyle Schultz had 12 points and Eric Ritter scored 10 for C-R.

The Miller City consolation game against Cory-Rawson is scheduled for 6 p.m. followed by the championship game at approximately 7:45 p.m.

Fort Jennings 67,

Temple Christian 63

LIMA — Brandon Wehri (22), Cole Horstman (15) and Ian Finn (11) all scored in double digits for Fort Jennings. Brady Bowman had 28 points and Noah Howell scored 25 for Temple Christian.

Crestview 52,

Delphos St. John’s 47

CONVOY — Derek Stout had 16 points and Javin Etzler scored 12 for Crestview. Jared Wurst had 15 points and Connor Hulihan scored nine for DSJ.

Fremont Ross 50,

Lima Senior 48

FREMONT — Maliek Johnson’s 3-pointer at the buzzer cost the Spartans a victory. Jaleel King had 18 points and BJ Miller scored 11 for Lima Senior.

USV 52, Allen East 40

MCGUFFEY — Quinn Sanders had 19 points and Brady Hipsher scored 18 for Upper Scioto Valley. Devin Reed had 16 points and Bradden Crumrine and Tyler Clum each scored eight for Allen East.

St. Marys 56,

New Knoxville 49 (OT)

NEW KNOXVILLE — Braeden Dunlap had 19 points and Austin Wilker scored 14 for St. Marys. Nathan Tinnerman had 17 points and Ben Lammers scored 12 for New Knoxville.

Ayersville tournament

AYERSVILLE — Leipisic’s Kierra Meyer won MVP honors and was joined on the all-tournament team by teammates Carlee Siefker and Heather Lammers as the Vikings won the championship game 46-23 against the tourney hosts.

The Vikings’ Peyton Henry was named Miss Hustle. Lammers (15), Siefker (14) and Meyer (10) each finished in double digits. Continental beat Hilltop 64-46 in the consolation game. Amber Logan had 25 points and Addyson Armey scored 12 for Continental.

Ohio 65, UNOH 58

ATHENS, (AP) — Kevin Mickle scored 15, Teyvion Kirk had 14 points and 14 rebounds, and Ohio beat NAIA University of Northwestern Ohio.

Mike Laster added 12 points for the Bobcats (7-5), who led the entire way in their final nonconference game before starting Mid-American Conference play.

Nathan Bradley had 13 points, Willis Mackey, Jr. scored 11 and Corbin Pierce added 10 for the Racers.

Ohio scored the first seven points of the game and steadily built to its largest lead at 60-44 on Mickle’s dunk with 7:33 left. But the Racers had a 12-0 run to cut the deficit to 60-56 on Daniel Page’s jumper with 3:28 to go.

Laster’s 3-pointer with 1:45 left pushed the Bobcats’ lead to 63-56 and, after Corbin Pierce answered with a layup for Northeastern Ohio, Laster capped the scoring with a pair of free throws with 56 seconds left.
