CELINA — Lima Central Catholic took top honors at Tuesday’s Division II girls golf sectional at Fox’s Den Golf Club.
The Thunderbirds finished with a 342 total with Wayne Trace (346) and St. Henry (362) also secuting spots in district play with top three finishes in the 12-team event.
Meghan Mulcahy (81), Erin Mulcahy (82), Mary Kelly Mulcahy (83) and Hannah Garver (96) combined for the top team total. Erin Naumann and Staugler Karlee (83 each), Hemmelgarn Allyson (97) and Claire Clune (99) contibuted to St. Henry’s score. New Bremen (393) was fourth and Bluffton (405) was fifth.
St. Marys’ Jill Schmitmeyer tied a tournament record as well as her best score ever with a 3-under 69 to earn medalist honors and a district spot. Also finishing in the top 10 individually were Wayne Trace’s Gracie Gudakunst (78), Kalida’s Grace Miller (79), Bluffton’s Alivia Koenig (81), Meghan Mulcahy, New Bremen’s Amy Balster (82), Erin Mulcahy, Wayne Trace’s Brooke Sinn (82), Karlee, Mary Kelly Mulcahy and Naumann.
Miller and Koenig also advanced as invividuals. Lincolnview’s Marissa Miller (88), Allen East’s Haylee Mattevi (103), Fort Recovery’s Kristen Keller (104), Coldwater’s Emma Eckstein (110), Delphos Jefferson’s Sydnie McGue (106), Marion Local’s Marah Moeller (113), Cassidy Schafer (103) of Delphos St. John’s, Minster’s Taylor Homan (93), Crestview’s Olivia Skelton (104), Fort Jennings’ Lexi Stant (119), Ridgemont’s Danielle Mouser (113) and Ottoville’s Allie Honigford (117) had the low rounds for their respective schools.
The district is scheduled for Monday at Sycamore Springs Golf Course in Arlington.
Country Acres sectional
OTTAWA — No area teams or players advance to district play at Country Acres Golf Club.
Hicksville (405), Tinora (410) and Otsego (421) earned the team spots and Liberty Center’s Olivia Zacharias (88), Montpelier’s Brookelyn Dye (91) and Patrick Henry’s (93) moved on as individuals.
Hicksville’s Micah Schroeder (77) was the medalist on the par 72 layout.
Parkway (430) was fifth and Leipsic (477) finished eighth in the 10-team field. Paulding’s Hailey Harzell finished eighth with a 100. Parkway’s Mecaylah Hesse (103), Leipsic’s Hannah Goedde (109) and Columbus Grove’s Brooke Silver (128) had the low rounds for their respective schools.
Ada 3, Crestview 2
The Bulldogs moved 3-0 in the Northwest Conference with a 22-25, 27-25, 25-16, 22-25, 15-6 victory.
Ada’s Melinda Woods set a school record with 48 kills. Olivia Alexander had 31 digs, Madie Gosard had 39 assists and five aces and Melinda Woods had five blocks also for Ada.
Ally McCoy had 24 kills, Abby Bagley had 48 assists, Lexi Gregory had 24 digs and Lyv Black had 24 digs for Crestview, which fell to 4-1 in the NWC.
