Roundup: Allen East’s Belcher, Shawnee’s Caprella have big nights

HARROD — Bryce Belcher ran for a pair of touchdowns and also threw a pair of TD passes as host Allen East defeated Perry 24-14 Friday night.

Lucas Freeman and Cole Fletcher caught the TD passes from Belcher, who completed 8 of 16 passes for 92 yards. Kyle Nickles led the 1-1 Mustangs on the ground with 91 yards on 18 attempts.

JT Taviano ran 74 yards for one Perry touchdown and Louie Hoersten connected with Luke Floyd on an 82-yard pass play for the other TD by the Commodores (0-2).

Shawnee 56, Defiance 7

DEFIANCE — Johnny Caprella completed 12 of 17 pass attempts for 375 yards and six touchdowns and also scored on a pair of TD runs in the Western Buckeye League opener for both teams. Grant Wheeler had four receptions for 113 yards and three touchdowns, Christian Ford had three receptions for 148 yards and two TDs and Peyton Wilson had 2 receptions for 81 yards and a TD also for Shawnee (2-0). The Indians finished the game with 454 yards total offense.

Leipsic 13, Columbus Grove 6

COLUMBUS GROVE — Dylan Schroeder completed 18 of 29 pass attempts for 200 yards and a touchdown for the visiting Vikings (2-0). Cole Rieman caught Schroeder’s TD throw and finished the night with nine receptions for 116 yards. Braydon Niese scored Leipsic’s other touchdown on a 1-yard run. Brady Hauenstein, who had three receptions for 40 yards, scored Grove’s touchdown on a 1-yard carry. Garrett Nemire ran for 67 yards on 15 carries and Blake Reynolds completed 17 of 30 pass attempts for 169 yards also for the host Bulldogs (0-2).

Riverdale 43, Hardin Northern 8

MT. BLANCHARD — Logan Lease scored Hardin Northern’s TD on a 3-yard run, and Brock Hipsher then ran it in for the two-point conversion.

Valley View 24, Fort Recovery 21

GERMANTOWN — Will Homan rushed for 132 yards and three touchdowns on 23 carries for Fort Recovery (1-1).

Pandora-Gilboa 20, Calvert 6

PANDORA — Peyton Traxler had touchdown runs of 24 and 3 yards respectively and teammate Jared Breece had a 1-yard score. Breece finished with 107 yard rushing on 18 carries. Carter Nofziger had 12 receptions for 113 yards also for P-G (2-0).

Upper Scioto Valley 26, Cory-Rawson 0

RAWSON — Jason Moots threw touchdown passes to Kolton Keith (60 yards), Quinn Sanders (31 yards) and Drew Oglesbee (50 yards) while completing seven of 13 pass attempts for 186 yards. Oglesbee had three receptions for 76 yards and Keith had a pair of catches for 71 yards. Wayne Lowery, who had 55 yards on seven carries, also scored for USV (1-1) on a 10-yard run. Eric Ritter had a pair of receptions for 22 yards and Tommy Stauffer completed five of 12 pass attempts for 42 yards for C-R (0-2).

Arcadia 51, Ridgemont 12

ARCADIA — Ethan Mouse threw a touchdown pass to Troy Cameron and ran in another score for Ridgemont (0-2). Teammate Tyrese Patterson had four receptions for 83 yards.

Van Buren 35, Bluffton 18

BLUFFTON — Gavin Conrad returned a kickoff for a touchdown, Brice Rayle connected with Kaleb Jefferson on a TD throw and James Badial Luna returned a punt for a score for Bluffton (1-1).

Delphos Jefferson 14, Versailles 7

DELPHOS — Tanner Mathewson scores on a 7-yard run and Tyler Bratton threw a 27-yard TD pass to Cole McKee for the host Wildcats (1-1) at Stadium Park.

Van Wert 26, Wapakoneta 20

VAN WERT — Nate Place had four TD runs for Van Wert (2-0) in the WBL opener for both teams. Place finished with 80 yards rushing on 26 carries. Rob Gerstner and Evan Kaeck each had scoring runs and Brady Erb threw a TD pass to Riley Gibson for Wapak (0-2).

Crestview 41, Hicksville 40

CONVOY — Drew Kline completed a 4-yard pass to Wade Sheets for the final touchdown of the game.
