WAYNESFIELD — Due to excessive amounts of rain all week, unseasonably cool temperatures and no track drying windows have been forced the cancellation of tonight’s racing program at Waynesfield Raceway Park.

SOUTH BLOOMFIELD — The Ohio State Lima/Rhodes State men’s team is tied for second after the first round of the Ohio Regional Campus State Tournament at the par -72 Cook’s Creek.
The Barons matched the 344 team score of Miami-Hamilton in the 10-team event. Ohio University-Lancaster leads with a score of 336. Paulding graduate Shane Lumpkins (80), Lima Central Catholic grad Jim Thatcher (83) and Minster grad Chip Perryman (86) led the way for OSU Lima in the cold, windy and wet conditions.
The tournament is scheduled to conclude today at par-72 Valley View in Lancaster.

MIAMISBURG — Ohio Northern advanced to the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament finals at South Regency Tennis Club.
The second-seeded Polar Bears (22-4 overall) will play top-seeded John Carroll at 2 p.m. today at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason.

LIMA — The NAIA No. 5 University of Northwestern Ohio (19-6) faced the No. 12 Indiana Wesleyan University Wildcats (31-7) in a rescheduled match from earlier this season.
The Racers started the match in a hole as they were forced to surrender two points by default which made for a difficult obstacle in the top-25 showdown.

LAFAYETTE, La. — Lima Southside Gym’s Derek Slater was defeated 5-0 by Timothy Jarman in the 108-pound division at the National Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions. Earlier, Southside’s Javionte Gaddy lost 3-2 to Rasheed Wright at 114 pounds.
