Wapakoneta’s Hall wins district in wrestling

MANSFIELD — Wapakoneta’s Landon Hall finished first at 220 pounds as the Redskins finished 11th as a team at Saturday’s Division II wrestling district.

Bath’s Tre Terry was second at 170 pounds and teammate Collin Mell was third at 145 pounds. Also earning spots at state were Elida’s Calvin Brown (145) and Noah Meeker (285) and Wapak’s Jayden Hefner (132) with fourth-place efforts.

Van Wert’s Gabe Steyer (126) and Elida’s Austin Selvaggio (113) were each fifth while Wapak’s Luke Beach (120), Bath’s Issac Ingram (160) and Elida’s Gabe Makin (152) were each sixth.

Wauseon (207.5 points) won the team title. Elida (53.5) was 12th, Bath (50.5) was 14th, Van Wert (14.5) was 27th, Shawnee (7) tied for 30th, St. Marys (5) tied for 33rd and Celina and Kenton tied for 37th with two points each.

Division I

MENTOR — Lima Senior’s Miguel Clark (195 pounds) was pinned in 2:27 by Mentor’s Max Hill in a second-round consolation bracket match. Clark was pinned by St. Edward’s Dakota Howard in 3:13 to start the competition and then defeated Mayfield’s Kyle Sakach 12-6 in his first consolation bracket match.
