ADA — Jaylen Sautter (13), Lauryn Auchmuty (12), Brynn Fortman (11) and Nicole Nesby (10) scored in double digits for Grove in a Northwest Conference encounter. Lexi Poling had eight points and Olivia Burkhart scored seven for Ada.

LEIPSIC — Whitney Langhals had 20 points, six rebounds and half a dozen assists and Kyrsten Martinez scored 10 for the host Vikings in a NWC matchup. Makayla Jackman had 11 points and Carsyn Looser scored six for Lincolnview.

SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP — Claire Foust had eight points and 10 rebounds and Rachel Clark contributed eight assists for the visiting Wildkittens. Gracie Freiberger had 14 points and seven assists and Ania Pearson had 12 points and 10 rebounds for the host Indians in the Western Buckeye League game.

Kramer recognized

The American Volleyball Coaches Association has named New Bremen’s Diana Kramer as one of its 2022 national coaches of the year.

Kramer guided the Cardinals to a 28-1 record and the Division IV state championship this year following titles in 2017 and 2019. New Bremen also reached the state finals in 2018 and 2020. Her career record at St. Henry and New Bremen is 315-40 with five of her teams earning OHSVCA Coaches’ Poll championships.

Armstrong signs

BLUFFTON — Bluffton High School senior Landon Armstrong has signed a letter of intent to run track and field and cross country at the University of Findlay.

Armstrong is a two-time state placer in cross country, finishing 15th in 2021 and third in 2022. He is the school record holder in cross country with a time of 15:34.00. As a sophomore, he was 10th in the 800 and part of the eighth-place 3,200 relay team.

His junior year, Armstrong broke the school record in the 800 with a time of 1:55.22 and was fourth in the event at state. He was also part of the runner-up 1,600 relay team and third-place 3,200 relay foursome at state.

He is the son of Natalie and Andy Armstrong.

ADA — Sophomore Brooke Allen recorded career-highs of 18 points and seven rebounds to lead the Ohio Northern women’s basketball team to a 57-52 win over Wilmington on Wednesday night at the ONU Sports Center.

The Polar Bears improved to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference while dropping the Quakers to 5-3, 0-2.

Senior Kasey Knippen (Ottoville) made a career-high four 3-pointers and joined Allen in double figures with a career-high 14 points to go with six rebounds.
