KALIDA — The host Wildcats had three players score in double digits in a 53-36 victory Tuesday night against Putnam County League foe Pandora-Gilboa.

Evan Stechschulte had 19 points and Jaden Smith and Ethan Warnecke had 14 and 10 points respectively for Kalida. Aiden Harris had 13 points and Aidan Morris scored seven for the Rockets.

BOTKINS — Jenna Leugers had 15 ponts and Becca Wenning scored nine for the visiting Cavaliers.

Allison Hughes became Parkway’s all-time rebounding leader during Monday’s 53-46 victory against Mississinawa Valley. Hughes finished the night with 787 for her career, passing the previous mark of 779. Teammate Gabrielle Stober had 30 points.

Ohio Northern is ranked No. 13 in the final United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Top 25 Poll of the 2022 season.

The Polar Bears dropped two spots from the previous poll, which was released Nov. 1.

National champion Chicago (Ill.) is the top-ranked team in the poll, and runner-up Williams (Mass.) is No. 2.

ONU also received votes in the final D3soccer.com poll of the season. Northern received 78 points in the poll and is listed first among teams in the “receiving votes” category, putting it at No. 26 in the poll.

Academic All-American

ADA — Ohio Northern’s Kylie Cabana was named to the NCAA Division III Academic All-America First Team by College Sports Communicators for 2022.

The CSC Academic All-America program recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field or court and in the classroom.

Cabana was one of 11 student-athletes from across the country to be named a First Team Academic All-American. A total of 36 student-athletes were selected among the First, Second and Third teams.

A biology and pre-dentistry major, Cabana was one of 13 selections boasting a perfect 4.0 GPA.

National champion Johns Hopkins (Md.) is the top-ranked team in the poll, and runner-up Case Western Reserve is No. 2.

Additionally, ONU is ranked No. 25 in the final D3soccer.com Top 25 poll of the season. The Polar Bears received 104 points in the poll.

ADA — The Ohio Northern women’s basketball team received votes in the Week 2 D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll, which was released on Monday.

The Polar Bears (5-1 overall, 1-0 OAC) received 26 points in the poll and are listed second among teams in the “others receiving votes” category, putting them at No. 27.

Hope (Mich.) is the top-ranked team in the poll, receiving 616 points and 21 of 25 first-place votes.

Northern also received two points in this week’s Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Top 25 Poll, which was released on Tuesday. Northern is the ninth team listed in the “others receiving votes” category, putting it at No. 34 in the poll.
