Roundup: Delphos St. John’s wins boys Division III boys golf title

BOWLING GREEN — Delphos St. John’s won Thursday’s Division III boys golf district at Stone Ridge Golf Club to earn a team spot at the state tournament along with Minster and Ottoville.

DSJ finished with a 328 total with Minster (339) second and Ottoville (343) third.

Medalist Jack Gerker (74), Tyce McClain (78), who finished tied for fourth overall, Collin Feathers (82) and Caden Wright (94) contributed to the Blue Jays’ championship total.

Mitchell Bornhorst (81), Louis Magoto (83), Ray Purdy (86) and Nathan Beair (89) posted scores used for Minster’s total.

Grant Leis (80), who tied for ninth individually, Blake Kortokrax (87), Keaton Schnipke (87) and Michael Turnwald (89) had rounds used for Ottoville’s total.

Lima Central Catholic’s Parker Judy (75), who tied for second, and Miller City’s Will Otto (78), who tied for fourth, earned individual state berths.

Marion Local (353) was seventh, Kalida (360) was 11th and Allen East (406) was 17th.

Cole Brunswick (81), Marcus Rethman (84), Brandon Eyink (91) and Grant Kremer (97) combined for Marion Local’s total.

Robert Nartker (83), Jack Stechschulte (89), Kayla Nartker (93) and Ethan Warnecke (95) had rounds used for Kalida’s score.

Levi Clum (91), Donovan Kennedy (101), Jacob Haney (105) and Jalen Johnson (109) had scores used for Allen East’s total.

Delphos Jefferson’s Isaac Gallmeier (81), Leipsic’s Brevin Brandt (87), St. Henry’s Ty Post (89), Waynesfield-Goshen’s Chase Dunson (89) and Hardin Northern’s Justin Thiel (95) competed individually.

Division II district

OREGON — No area players advanced to state with Van Wert’s Keaton Foster (83) tying for 24th, Bath’s Braden Binkley (88) tying for 40th, Ottawa-Glandorf’s Ty Berhoff (89) tying for 43rd and Coldwater’s Nathan Overman (93) 54th behind medalist Cahle Roth (70) from Archbold at par 72 Eagle’s Landing. No area squads qualified for the district.

Division II sectional

LIMA — Singles quarterfinalists and doubles semifinalists were determined at the University of Northwestern Ohio.

In singles, Shawnee’s Alora Patel, Ava Patel and Rose Kottapalli, Kenton’s Natalia Kaminska, Bluffton’s Brooke Camper, Elida’s Ava Ling, Lima Central Catholic’s Libby Simmons and Van Wert’s Mandy Burenga advanced to the quarterfinals.

The doubles teams of Bath’s Elena Oliver and Ann Oliver, Celina’s Michelle Elston and Lauren Muhlenkamp, Ottawa-Glandorf’s Megan Welch and Mya Inkrott and LCC’s Paige Brinkman and Claire Janowski qualified for districts by reaching the semifinals.

Play is scheduled to resume at 9 a.m. Saturday at UNOH.

FINDLAY — No area singles players or doubles teams reached the semifinals.

Austin Miller and Matteo Fusillo each had a goal, Noah Neth had an assist and Jack Tenwalde made three saves to earn the shutout in goal as the Indians clinched the Western Buckeye League championship for the fourth straight year.

Andrew Wagner had a pair of assists and Ethan Barlage and Mason Rieman each had a goal.

Jackson Evans, Reece Berryman and Corbin Evans each had a goal and Reide Jackson and Austin Bockrath each had an assist.

BATH TOWNSHIP — AJ Dieringer had two goals and a pair of assists, Easton Craft had a pair of tallies, Quinn Holtzapple had a goal and two assists, Vincent Holtzapple had a goal, Reese Triplett and Bradley Triplett each finished with an assist and Cayden Ballweg got the shutout in goal.

Alex Arrellano had the Thunderbirds’ goal. Spencerville’s goal scorers were not reported.

HARROD — Jay Waterman and Troy Dwenger each ahd a goal, Andrew Leffel and Jay Schroeder each had an assist and Preston Rutschilling had 20 saves for New Knoxville.

Ben Hartzler had Bluffton’s goal off a Justin Good assist.

Carter Conley had Ada’s goal on a Nathan Williams assist. Teamamte Colton Long had six saves.

Addisyn Freeman had nine kills and three blocks, Olivia Hollstein had seven kills and Addysen Sneary had 19 assists for Elida.

With the 25-19, 25-21, 25-21 victory, the Vikings moved to 5-0 in the Putnam County League, securing their fifth straight PCL title, which is their 11th in 12 years and 15th in program history.

Alivia Jones had 14 kills and 12 digs, Danaysia Danzy had nine kills, 19 digs and three aces, Serenity Siefer had 38 assists and Alaina Brown had 18 digs for Leipsic.

Malia Romes had 12 kills and five total blocks, Maria Gerding had 22 assists, Whitney Unverferth had 17 digs, Riley Nienberg had 13 digs and Brooke Erhart had five block assists for Kalida.

Jaylen Sautter had nine kills and three blocks. Kendal Palte had four kills, Sage Clement had 13 assists and Makailey Bermudez had 25 digs for Grove.
