Roundup: Boys golf district spots earned

Area boys golfers qualified for next week’s districts during Division II and III sectionals Thursday.

Division II

OTTAWA — Ottawa-Glandorf’s Ty Verhoff posted an 84 and Van Wert’s Keaton Foster, Bath’s Braden Brinkley and Coldwater’s Nathan Overman each shot 85 at par 72 Moose Landing to earn spots for the Oct. 6 Eagle’s Landing Golf Club.

Napoleon won the fifth score tiebreaker against Van Buren to win the team title after each shot 338. Liberty-Benton (348) also advanced.

St. Marys’ Josh Sudman (88), Bluffton’s Jaden Coonfare (90), Spencerville’s Cooper Chapman (96) and Kenton’s Landon Plaugher (98) had the low rounds for their respective schools.

Division III

At par 72 Colonial Golfers Club, Delphos St. John’s (310), Minster (330) and Marion Local (345) advanced to the Oct. 6 Stone Ridge district.

Medalist Collin Feathers (72), Jack Gerker (74), Tyce McClain (77) and Caden Wright (87) combined for DSJ’s score.

Mitchell Bornhorst (79), Nathan Beair (83), Jack Meyer (83) and Ray Purdy (85) posted Minster’s total.

Cole Brunswick (81), Marcus Rethman (86), Brandon Eyink (88) and Adam Schwieterman (90) advanced Marion Local.

Lima Central Catholic’s Parker Judy (76) and Delphos Jefferson’s Isaac Gallmeier (80) advanced as individuals. St. Henry’s Ty Post defeated Crestview’s Mathew Dealey in a playoff for the third district berth after each shot 86.

Lincolnview’s Evan Miller (88), Fort Recovery’s Isaac LeFevre (89), Temple Christian’s Landon Callahan (93), Parkway’s Roman Leszinske (94), New Knoxville’s Jay Waterman (99), New Bremen’s Henry Nelson (103) and Perry’s Jeremiah Jackson (124) had the low rounds for their respective schools.

At par 71 Pike Run, Ottoville (320) was the team champ with Kalida (329) and Wayne Trace (342) also advancing.

Medalist Keaton Schnipke (75), Michael Turnwald (77), Grant Leis (78) and Blake Kortokrax (90) combined for the winning total.

Connor Nartker (77), Carson Klausing (83), Kayla Nartker (84) and Jack Stechschulte (85) had their scores used for Kalida’s total.

Ayersville’s Luke Schroeder (79), Leipsic’s Brevin Brandt (80) and Miller City’s Will Otto (83) advanced individually.

Pandora-Gilboa’s Owen Huffman (85), Columbus Grove’s Isaac Ricker (91) and Fort Jennings’ Ryan Aldrich (97) had the low scores for their respective schools.

At par 72 Sycamore Springs, Allen East (368) finished second behind Carey (366) to earn a district berth. Arcadia (383) also advanced.

Levi Clum (82), Jalen Johnson (91), Jacob Harvey (94) and Donovan Kennedy (101) combined for Allen East’s score.

Hardin Northern’s Justin Thiel and Waynesfield-Goshen’s Chase Dunson each shot 86 to move on individually along with Riverdale’s Carter Koehler (90).

Ridgemont’s Hayden Oates (104) and Ada’s Geddes Klingler and Jack Baumgartner (102 each) had the low rounds for their respective schools.

LIMA — Shawnee’s Alora Patel (first singles), Ava Patel (second singles), Rose Kottapalli (third singles) and the first doubles team of Jenova DeBrosse and Brailynn Murphy reached the semifinals at the University of Northwestern Ohio.

St. Marys’ Charley Spencer (first singles), Cora Rable (third singles) and Jodi Perry and Elizabeth Brown (first doubles) and Molly Schlosser and Audrey Shannon (second doubles) made the final four.

Others making the semis include Bath’s Elena Oliver and Van Wert’s Grace Lott in first singles, Wapakoneta’s Elisabeth Good, Bath’s Anne Oliver and Van Wert’s Mandy Burenga in second singles, Celina’s Kayliann Howell and Ottawa-Glandorf’s Maggie Schmiedebusch in third singles, O-G’s Kayla Gerding and Lauren Niese and Wapak’s Brooke Minnig and Kierra Siefring in first doubles and Wapak’s Abigail Hamill and Jenna Kohler, Van Wert’s Piper Pierce and Sophie Gearhart and O-G’s Kailin Vorst and Sarah Ellerbrock in second doubles.

Play resumes at 9 a.m. Saturday at UNOH.
