Columbus Grove boys, Kenton girls shine at quad meet

Columbus Grove 16, Kenton 54, Pandora-Gilboa 69, Lima Senior 110.

KENTON —Columbus Grove’s Luke Ellerbrock was the top finisher with a time of 17.44. Teammate Evan Pitts was second with a time 0f 18.04.30 and Trent Koch third with a time of 18:27.40. Bryace Bonfifas was fourth with a time of 18:31.90. Logan Mershman finished sixth with a time of 18:56.50. Kenton’s Ethan Hall was fifth with a time of 18:38.60. Other Wildcat finishers were Carter Hale (20:19.10), Dillon Dulin (21:12.40), Gatlin Davis (21:45.10) and Tommy Mustain (22:15.90). For Pandora-Gilboa, Adam Buell, who finished 13th with a time of 20:42.10. Other Rocket finishers were Jack Buell (20:46.70), Ben Brannon (21:09.5), Owen Teders (21:15.50) and Nate Walker (22:30.00). Cameron King was the top Spartan runner with a time of 23:47. Other Spartan finishers were Eliezer Bermudez Rivera (25:58), Malachi Ley (36.21), Shane Jones (28:34) and Gavin Lyons (31:58).

Girls Cross Country

Kenton 16, Pandora-Gilboa 47

KENTON — Kenton’s Addi Manns was the top finisher with a time of 20:35.20 and Leah Harder was second with a time of 22:08.30. Finishing third was Delaney Buxton was third with a time of 22:48.80 and teammate Quinlyn Spearman was fourth with a timeof 23:05.40. Kendyl Gibson finished sixth with a time of 25.58.80. Savannah Knueven was the top Pandora-Gilboa runner with a fifth place finish and time of 25:06.80. Other Rocket finishers were Madison Rutschilling (28:16.20), Avery Traxler (28:50.00) Claire Stall (31:29.50) and Lauren Teders (34:15.00). Lima Senior’s Molly McKinley was the top Spartan runner with a time of 29:37.20. Other Lima Senior finishers were Angela Uzquiano Zabala (32:54.30) and Elana Cox (33:04.00).

Shawnee 180, Defiance 189

Shawnee’s Seth Grieshop and Defiance’s Aiden Kiessling shared match medalist honors after both shot 44s. Other Indians scores were Evan Jackson (45), Matthew Stiles (45) and Matthew Owens (46).

Leipsic 172, Bluffton 179, Allen East 199

BLUFFTON — Leipsic’s Brevin Brandt was the match medalist with a 39. Other Viking scoers were Luke Spoors (41), Nick Schroeder (43), Adam Lammers (49), Diego Lomeli (54) and Blane Schroeder (55). Bluffton’s Jaden Coonfare led the team with a 42. Other Prae scores were Eli Wenger (44), Evan Speicher (46), Jacob Bosivert (47), Aidan Sponsler (50) and Logan Combs (50). Allen East’s Levi Clum and Jalen Johnson both had 46s. Other team scores were Jacob Haney (52), Braden Clum (55) and Donovan Kennedy (55).

DELPHOS — Delphos Jefferson’s Caden Carder was the match medalisth with a 44. Other Wildcat scores were Isaac Gallmeier (45), Casey Knippen (46), Brady DuVall 48 and Kellen Carder 50. For Columbus Grove, Taylor Shroeder posted the low score of 47. Other team scores were Broody Roof (48), Maddox Halker (51), Ryan Hardeman (51) and Ethan Williams (59).

Napoleon 164, Miller City 176

KALIDA — Napoleon’s Brennan Babcock was the medalist with a score of 38. Miller City’s Will Otto led the team with a 42. Other team scores were Thomas Weis (43), Jude Otto (45), Andrew Weis (46) and Jesse Lammers (47).

Wayne Trace 154, Ottoville 160

Ottoville’s Jace Langhals shared medalist honors with Wayne Trace’s Evan Cosby after each shot 35 at Pleasant Valley.

VAN WERT — Wapakoneta’s Jackie Oen was the match medalist with a score of 42. Other team scores were Paityn Bowman (49), Natalie Hefner (60) and Mylie Moser (70) For Lincolnview, Zoey Tracy led the team with a 43. Other Lancer scores were Sydney King (61), Paige Dunn (63) and Liz Phillips (65)

LCC’s Mulcahy finishes first

FOSTORIA — Bridget Mulcahy, Lima Central Catholic, playing as an individual, shot a two over par 38 to finish as medalists out of 20 participants Tuesday during Northwest Ohio Girls Golf League play at par 36 Fostoria Country Club.

Lima Central Catholic got singles wins from Libby Simmons, Claire Janowski and Alexa Hefner and doubles wins from the duo of Paige Brinkman and Emma Skinner and the pair of McKenna Bader and Maria Pignataro.

DEFIANCE — Elida got singles wins from Ava Long, Taylor Crates and the doubles teams of Abby Campbell and Mya Long. this was a make-up from earlier in the season

RIVER VALLEY — Kenton got a singles win from Natalia Kaminska.

Fremont Ross 7, Lima Senior 0

Lima Senior keeper Alli Fronzaglia made 9 saves and Alyecia Hollon made 1 save.

Volleyball

Miller City 3, Columbus Grove 0

COLUMBUS GROVE — Miller City won 25, 16, 25-15 and 25-11. Miller City’s Savannah Niese had 13 kills, two bloks and eight digs and Morgan Verhoff had 10 kills and four aces. Cloe Kuhlman had seven kills and Tess Deitring had five kills and three blocks. Josie Otto had 34 assists and eight digs. Tori Wenziner had 30 digs and two aces. For Columbus Grove, Jaylen Sautter had six kills and eight blocks and Makailey Bermudez added six kills, and three blocks. Sage Clement recorded 11 assists and 11 digs and Brynn Fortman made 30 digs.

Women’s Soccer

ONU 3, Kalamazoo 0

ADA — The Ohio Northern women’s soccer team remained undefeated on the season with a 3-0 victory over Kalamazoo (Mich.) on a beautiful Wednesday afternoon at Kerscher Stadium.

The Polar Bears improve to 3-0-2 overall, while the Hornets fall to 2-2-2.

Sophomore Elizabeth Pierce (Liberty Township/Mount Notre Dame) gave the hosts a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 26th minute off an assist from junior Kylie Brown (Jamestown, N.Y./Southwestern Central).

Junior Jill Roberts (Bellbrook/Carroll) made it 2-0 with a nifty unassisted goal in the 52nd minute.

Sophomore Chandler Clark (Lima/Bath) scored in the 64th minute off an assist from sophomore Emma Bowman (Novi, Mich./Northville) to put the Polar Bears on top 3-0.

Senior Becky Moss (Lebanon/Mount Notre Dame) had one save in goal to pick up her third shutout of the season.

Ohio Northern out-shot Kalamazoo 14-4 and had a 2-1 advantage in corner kicks.
