Ehrnsberger named Locos head coach

LIMA — The Executive Board of the Lima Locos have selected Chad Ehrnsberger as the team’s new head coach.

He formerly served as the Locos head coach during the 2013-2016 seasons. During his tenure as head coach, the Locos won the league championship in 2015 and 36 Locos players were either drafted or signed Major League Baseball affiliated contracts.

“Chad brings a wealth of baseball knowledge and experience to our team and I am looking forward to working closely with him and our coaching staff.” General Manager Sean Boley said in a news release.

Ehrnsberger played infield for Ohio State for three seasons before transferring to the University of Central Florida for his senior season. His collegiate awards include being a four-time All-American, First Team Academic All-American and Big Ten Scholar Athlete.

Ehrnsberger also played nine years in the MLB minor leagues. During his time in the minors, Ehrnsberger was a five-time All-Star and accumulated a batting average of more than .300 with 91 home runs. His teams made the playoffs in six of his nine seasons.

“Our board of directors selected Chad to lead our team on the field for a plethora of reasons including his winning history with the Lima Locos.” Board President Bill Leahy said in a news release.
