LIMA — Gavin Evans had three goals as Lincolnview edged Lima Senior 4-3 Tuesday night in boys soccer.

Reid Jackson had a single tally, Warren Mason had a pair of assists and Jacob Grubb and Austin Bockrath each had an assist also for the Lancers. Lima Senior’s goal scorers were not reported.

WAPAKONETA — Sami Scoles had two goals and Karson Hauenstein and Allison Diller each had a single tally. Hauenstein also had two assists and Ella Armsrong had a single assists. Julia Mehafie made four saves in earning the shutout in goal.

Lincolnview’s Evan Miller tied Grove’s Isaac Ricker and Taylor Schroeder for medalist honors after each shot 44. Grant Glossett, Dane Ebel and Jack Snyder each finished with 45s for Lincolnview.

Crestview’s Matthew Dealey (45) and Ada’s Jack Baumgartner (53) had the low rounds for their respective schools.

Marion Local won the boys competition with 28 points followed by Celina (55), Parkway (86), Fort Recovery (98), Coldwater (112) and St. Henry (168).

Fort Recovery’s Trevor Heitkamp won the boys race in 17 minutes, 8.57 seconds with Celina’s Colin Buening, Marion Local’s Noah Budde and Troy Stucke, Celina’s Conor Krogman, Marion Local’s Dalton Pohlmann, Lucas Broering and Trey Goettemoeller, Parkway’s Xavier Samples and Celina’s Ty Drexler finishing second through 10th respectively.

St. Henry was girls team winner with 48 points followed by Parkway (54), Fort Recovery (56), Celina (72), Marion Local (125) and Coldwater (176).

Celina’s Kaylie Dameron was the girls race winner in 19:37.39 with Fort Recovery’s Natalie Brunswick, Celina’s Jenalee Dameron, Parkway’s Amanda Barrett, St. Henry’s Leah Heitkamp, Ally Heath and Rileigh Baumer and Parkway’s Jordyn Schaefer and Paige Williamson and Marion Local’s Jose Bruns finishing second through 10th respectively.

Columbus Grove (51) finished second behind Mount Gilead (26) and Upper Scioto Valley (177) was sixth in the boys event.

USV’s Joe Parker was fifth with CG’s Luke Ellerbrock, Bryce Bonifas and Evan Pitts finishing sixth through eighth beind race winner Will Baker from Mount Gilead who had a winning time of 16:26.86.

Grove (181) was seventh in the girls standings behind first place St. Ursula Academy (39). CG’s Sarah Kamphaus was eighth behind race winner Raygann Campbell (20:13.6) from Galion.

Poll has ONU

finishing second

ADA — The defending Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament champion Ohio Northern women’s soccer team was picked to finish second in the conference in 2022 in the OAC Coaches Preseason Poll, which was released on Tuesday.

The Polar Bears received 76 points and four first-place votes in the poll.

Otterbein was selected as the favorite with 77 points and six first-place votes.

ADA — The Ohio Northern men’s soccer team was picked to finish third in the Ohio Athletic Conference in 2022 in the OAC Coaches Preseason Poll, which was released on Tuesday.

The Polar Bears received 69 points and two first-place votes in the poll.

John Carroll was selected as the favorite to win the league with 80 points and eight first-place votes.

Otterbein was picked to finish second with 70 points.

Bonnell named

BGSU head coach

ADA — Ohio Northern’s former men’s and women’s tennis coach Mike Bonnell has accepted the head women’s tennis coaching position at NCAA Division I Bowling Green State.

Bonnell served as ONU’s men’s head coach for six seasons from 2017-22 and was the interim head women’s coach in the spring of 2022.

He was 73-41 in six seasons on the men’s side and guided the Polar Bears to the 2022 OAC Regular Season and Tournament titles.

The ONU women were 11-5 under his guidance this spring.
