Roundup: Delphos St. John’s starts off with girls soccer win against Lima Senior

LIMA — Sara Burnett had a pair of goes and an assist as Delphos St. John’s opened its girls high school soccer season with a 5-0 victory Tuesday against Lima Senior.

Kennedy Sterling had a goal and an assist, Emily Burnett and Kierstin Jackson each had a tally and Myah Boggs contributed two assists. Lima Senior’s Alli Fronzaglia made a school record 49 saves.

Quinn Holtzapple had three goals and an assist, Vincent Holtzapple had a trio of tallies, Cody Birt, Wyatt Chapman and Reese Triplett each had a goal and Easton Craft, Doug Ruppert, Bradley Triplett and AJ Dieringer each had an assist for the Roughriders in the season opener.

ADA — Nine Ohio Northern players were named to the National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society for the 2021 season.

Logan Hughes, Brody Hahn, Jack Lehr, James McDougald, Zak Smith, Drew Staczek, Ada graduate Aaron Everhart, Elijah Harris and Jake Tanski received the honor.

Nominated by their respective schools, NFF Hampshire Honor Society members must have completed their final year of playing eligibility in fall 2021, attained a minimum undergraduate cumulative grade point average of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale, met all NCAA/NAIA-mandated progress towards degree requirements and been starters or significant contributors throughout the 2021 season.
