Boys basketball: Kenton Wildcats 2015-16 preview

BOYS BASKETBALL

Coach: Matt McCullough

Years, career record: 3 at Kenton, 27-41 (33-56 overall)

Division: II

Last year: 6-17, 1-8 WBL (tied for ninth)

Returning letterwinners (* returning starter): Thomas Phillips (Jr., 6-5, forward); Austin Buroker (Jr., 6-2, forward); Hunter Phillips (Jr., 6-1, guard); Luke Nichols (Sr., 6-3, forward); Brady Donnelly (Jr., 6-0, guard)

Promising newcomers: Trent Adams (Sr., 6-0, forward), Britton Hensel (Sr., 6-0, guard)

Team outlook: The Wildcats are without their two leading scorers and rebounders from last year, but they do have five returning lettermen and a full preseason to practice this year. “The preseason and the first part of the regular season will be a learning period in which the players will be establishing their new roles and gaining the trust and confidence in each other on both ends of the floor,” coach Matt McCullough said. “Overall, the program is heading in the right direction.”
