Paulik’s hat trick powers Elida

Bulldogs advance to district finals

ELIDA — Elida’s Matt Paulik scored a three-goal hat trick and that was more than enough to power the Bulldogs to a 6-0 victory over Wapakoneta in the Division II boys soccer district semifinals Monday at Elida.

Elida (12-5-1) advances to the district finals against the Celina (14-4) at 7 p.m. Thursday at Elida.

Nathan Stewart scored first for Elida with 24:39 left in the first half. Paulik scored at the 10-minute mark and again with six minutes left in the first half.

That gave Elida a 3-0 lead at the half.

Paulik’s third goal came with 14:41 left in the match to give Elida a 4-0 lead. Blaine Hunter and Sebastian Kunkleman scored Elida’s final two goals.

Noah Adcock had three assists.

Elida goalkeeper Kyle Finnerty had three saves for the shutout.

Elida outshot the Redskins, 10-3.

Wapakoneta ends its season 10-6-2.

Division II at Elida

Celina 3,

St. Marys 0

Celina knocked off St. Marys in the Division II district semifinals at Elida.

Celina will meet Elida in the district finals at 7 p.m. Thursday at Elida. St. Marys ends its year 13-4-2.

Celina’s first goal was a header by Brennen Piper, off a pass from Garrett Weininger. That came midway through the first half.

Celina’s other goals were by Jarren Casto and Sean Klosterman.

Both teams had six shots on goal.

Celina goalkeeper Brandon Conn made six saves for the shutout.
