Lima Senior boys, girls open with soccer wins

LIMA — The Lima Senior boys and girls soccer teams opened their seasons with victories against Lincolnview on Saturday.

The boys won 1-0 on a goal by Colton Fry off an assist by Cole Mericle. Goalie Josiah Shoemaker made seven saves in recording the shutout. Lincolnview goalie Chandler Adams made 17 saves.

The Lima Senior girls won their match 5-0 as Tajah Upshaw and Morgan Marchal each had two goals. Ta-lor Washington also had a goal for the Spartans.

Spencerville 1

SPENCERVILLE — Jared Fanning scored both of Ottoville’s goals. Billy Sidey scored The Bearcats’ goal.

Continental 1,

Wauseon 0

CONTINENTAL — Sam Bowers scored the game’s only goal. Teammate Trevor Williamson got the shutout in goal.

Fort Jennings 3,

Archbold 1

ARCHBOLD — Fort Jennings opened its season with a victory, scoring three goals in the second half. Brad Rice and Dillon Schimmoeller each scored for the Musketeers. Rice and Austin Wisner each had an assist. Fort Jennings other score came on an own goal.

Sidney 4,

Indian Lake 1

SIDNEY — Connor Davis scored Indian Lake’s goal.

Girls soccer

Wapakoneta 6,

Bowling Green 0

BOWLING GREEN — Olivia Cousino, Claire Burton, Brianna Pequignot, Ellie Horman, Drew Peachey and Amber Detrick all scored goals for Wapak. Abbie Gesler, Cousino, Nicole Richard, Pequignot and Detrick each had an assist.

Goalies Katie Manger, Corrine Raney and Ciera Rumbaugh combined for the shutout.

Lake 3, Shawnee 2

MILLBURY — Marie Beach and Kelsey Clark each scored a goal for Shawnee and teammate Carly Gronas had an assist.

Wauseon 4, Continental 2

WAUSEON — Kaitlyn Alvarado and Kaytlin Bibler each had goals for Continental and teammate Amelia Weller had an assist.

New Bremen 3,

Troy Christian 0

NEW BREMEN — Paige Jones had eight aces, 11 kills and 11 digs for New Bremen.

Cory-Rawson splits

RAWSON — Cory-Rawson lost to Ada and defeated Waynesfield-Goshen. Roni Risner had 11 digs, two blocks and 13 kills for the Horners. Neither Ada or Waynesfield-Goshen individual stats were reported.

Coldwater Spikeoff

COLDWATER — St. Henry won the title followed by Coldwater, St. Marys, Ottawa-Glandorf, Fort Loramie, Miami East, New Knoxville and Liberty-Benton.

Ally Angstmann had 25 kills and Erika Angstmann had 33 kills for St. Marys. Emily Annesser had 11 aces, 16 kills, 17 digs, and 36 assists for Ottawa-Glandorf. Kenzie Schroer had 75 assists, 25 digs, six aces, eight kills and two blocks for New Knoxville. No other teams’ individual stats were reported.

Tough start

for UNOH

MISHAWAKA, Ind. — The University of Northwestern Ohio started its season with four losses in the Bethel College Pilots Invitational.

On Friday, the Racers fell 3-2 to Bethel and 3-0 to Doane College. On Saturday, UNOH lost 3-0 matches to Ashford University and 18th-ranked Evangel University.
