Mariners edge Locoswith run in 10th inning

CELINA — The host Mariners scored in the bottom of the 10th inning Thursday for a 5-4 Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League victory against the Lima Locos.

Tyler Frank (Western Michigan) scored from third on an error for the victory. The Locos had held a 4-1 advantage before Grand Lake (13-8) scored three times in the eighth to tie the game.

Tyler Beckwith (University of Richmond) had two hits, including a home run, and an RBI, Kyle London (University of Washington) had two hits, including a double, and Brett Murray (Creighton) had two doubles for the Locos (12-6), who are alone in second place 2.5 games behind Hamilton. Will Kilgore (Georgia State) and Trey Logan (University of Georgia) each had an RBI for Lima. Locos starting pitcher Nick Eltzroth (Ohio Northern) went five innings, allowing one run, five hits and two walks while striking out five.

The Locos will next play the Mariners at 7:05 tonight at Simmons Field. Saturday’s home start time against Xenia has been moved to 7:05 p.m. with there not being any fireworks that night in Faurot Park.
