I would like to write to support Jim Clay and his views of AAU basketball and sports in general.
I was in basketball in the 1960s. We could not have considered playing AAU in the summer. Myself and my high school teammates had jobs in the summer, especially the farm kids. If it were like that now, maybe there wouldn’t be so many unfilled job openings.
I can only imagine if I had asked my Dad if I could go to Louisville or some other city to play ball. The answer would have been no; we have work to do.
I love sports, but year-round is too much. Play with your teammates in your own school. I know things change, but it is only my opinion.
