The fact that minute particles of spit may reach your food during preparation has David Hefner (May 4 letter) quite concerned. He suggests all food preparers wear a mask, which of course would greatly inconvenience thousands of preparers in the wonderful state of Ohio. This may even cause the price of your meal to go up a bit.

Now, of course, the food servers have those pesky droplets just waiting to alight on your food, so the restaurant manager should order extra mask for these folks. All customers within a few feet of Mr. Hefner’s table or even walking by should, of course, wear a mask. In between bites to protect any errant spittle, while happy people converse, definitely requires one to cover up.

I suggest Mr. Hefner, in honor of all restaurant workers, prepare his own meals in the safety of his home, and I’m sure thousands of preparers would wish him bon appétit.
